this has always been one of my favorites...i rember playing this for my mom and she became a alro fan because of it.. i was wondering when is the last time he played it at a concert?

Apparently, it's been a long time; no one is jumping in to post about it yet. I heard it in Dallas 20-something years ago.

I remember it on Sesame Street 20 or more years ago.

I know I've heard it more recently than that, but don't ask me when.....

Is that what he sang on the Muppet Show?
And I don't know when it was but I do remember him forgetting the words to it one night.

That was totally cool! And not having seen Arlo in the past couple years (well, I saw him on the boardwalk but was down the shore with my 4 kids and didn't have $150 to go to the show. That was torture) it was really great to hear a story I hadn't heard before.

That was great! I've heard adh do this several times, but there's something wonderful about having it available on request. It's like a "bring your own folksinger" browser.

I went to Central Regional sometime during the last ice age. Tom's River was a bit upscale for us, but we used to go to the library when it was still near the graveyard. Jeez, I can't even remember the street names. Was that Hooper? It seems to me that it lead out to the Mall and Hooper U, so it must be. I guess the latter is famous for Springsteen flunking out of it.

Anyway, thanks for those links. That was a nice diversion on a Friday afternoon.

Thanks for those links....the Garden Song especially. I love that song. I sang it to my kids every night when they were babies. I still listen to it often on the Precious Friend cd with Pete Seegar. I remember seeing Arlo with Pete in some kind of concert on TV years and years ago where he sang that song...it was the first time I heard it. Does anybody else remember this concert? I believe it was before cable. But I would love to know what it was and if anyone actually has a copy of it.

The Garden Song appears on The Arlo Guthrie Show video tape. A great concert featuring a very young Abe, Shenandoah, Pete Seeger, Bonnie Raitt, David Bromberg and Jerry Jeff Walker. I don't see it listed in the Rising Son catalog so I guess they're out. A search of Amazon came up empty too. I would love to see this rereleased as a dvd, my vhs copy is reaching the end of it's usable life.

Thanks John...that sounds about right. I can't remember anyone else but Arlo and Pete....but, well, let's just say some of those years a bit foggy
