Hey arlo!
Considering the recent discussions of the small/high priced venues, along with the discussions of the more regularly visited venues, I began to wonder what YOUR favorite venues might be?
What are your top 10? What makes a venue 'good' for you? Is it the same as what makes it good for us the audients?
Without burning bridges, what venues would you not return to?

Or is this too loaded a question, and puts you too much in the path of "biting the hand" so to speak?

Well, I'm not sure if it'd be a favorite... but if I had to venture a guess, I'd possibly think Wolftrap would be a favorite given that there was a PBS broadcast from there and More Together Again was recorded there. But that just may be due to the fact it's a good place to record from - as I found out when I actually taped a show there recently.

One may also might think of Carnegie Hall for the same reasons as above.

Personally, I *LOVED* the shows he did with the National Crafts Fair in Gaithersburg & Frederick, MD.

Interesting question though - be interesting to see if we get an answer.

Also, my guess of anywhere in Hawaii as being a possible favorite - for obvious reasons, lol!

Oh, forgot one other possibility... The Guthrie Center, duh!!!

That about covers the first 11 on my top 10 list.........

The Guthrie Center is THE place. No other music place I've been at feels so centered and so at home. I really do get a sense of something quite spiritual there in the sanctuary. I wonder if it did when it was a church? This would be the number one on my list.

Sure wish I could be there this weekend, but I'll shoot for May.

I saw Arlo at a small low priced venue (Cape Cod Melody Tent....16.50 for premium seats....I wonder if he got paid !) That was really awesome. Though I wonder if Arlo got dizzy from the rotating stage in the center of the tent. It was really soemthing being about 25 feet away from the stage.

Free weekly summer concerts are held in Deer Path Park in Hunterdon County NJ. A couple of years ago Arlo played there. There was a massive screw up due to predicted thunderstorms and the concert was moved to Hunterdon Central High School. A tape recording said that the concert would be at North Hunterdon HS. We went there first and it was empty. Then we went to the park since it wasn't raining, it was actually sunny. From there we followed a line of cars to Hunterdon Central and were lucky enough to get into the auditorium. There were speakers placed outside for those people who couldn't get in due to lack of space and fire code limitations. It was hot and sticky inside but we had a great time!
Overall though Carnegie Hall is my favorite. I can't wait ofr this year's concert!

LRoss, I remember that night! A bunch of middle-aged women in an un-air-conditioned, crowded auditorium... and the show was great! Larry was there, my cousins Howie and Beryl, Reggie and John, Nancy, a whole lot of us! Great night. Thanks for the memories.

My fav venue is the Guthrie Center. I feel right at home and feel warmth, love, and peace. George is a heart of gold, I like the way he greets people with a handshake or a hug and a kiss sometimes as they enter inside the church. Every time I go to the Revival shows its a family reunion, that is the reason I keep coming back.
It's such a shame that the Church cannot be moved near your hometown outside of the Massachusetts Berkshires. I just had an idea for a new invention "Grow Your Own Guthrie Center" just put immerse the very tiny Church in water and watch it grow 600%! Or maybe larger 100,000,000,000%! How that sound?

The Church, hands down. Okemah is good except for the air you can bite into. And of course Carnegie.

Arlo's concert at Espenschied Chapel was exquisite!
You could feel the peace and love swell as the evening went on. It was an unbelievable experience.
The acoustics and sound were perfect. Everyone there was just so thrilled to be there, and felt so special to be able to sing along. Goosebumps, tears of joy, ohmygoodness. It was by far, the best concert experience ever... one of the best experiences (music and all things considered) ever!
I could go on and on... it was awesome.
