Just wanted to share my family's Arlo story. My daughter - 8 years old, recently discovered my Arlo collection and became an instant fan. When we learned that Arlo would be returning to Lexington, KY we knew we had to get tickets - and bought OP tickets dead center.

As fate would have it, we moved away from KY before the concert but were still determined to go. About 2 weeks before the concert, my father died rather suddently. My daughtger was very close to him and was actually holding his hand as he passed away. We wondered in the ensuing emotional turmoil if we should just cancel the 5 1/2 hour trip to see Arlo, but decided that we all needed some fun.

When we arrived at the venue, we discovered that the OP tickets we bought had not been set up and we were moved 5 rows back - and my daughter was devasted. However, as Arlo came on and went into many great tunes, we all forgot about the seating issue.

Later in the show, as my wife described our ordeal to the t-shirt vendor, we learned that Arlo would be coming out after the show to sign autographs. My daughter was first in line.

To make this long story short - Arlo was very gracious, invited her over the table, signed her program, and even joked with her when she asked why he didn't play the "pickle song," saying, "The orchestra couldn't learn it."

Upon leaving, my daughter said, "That was way better than a front row seat!"

Many thanks to Arlo for bringing some much needed joy into her life and ours. While he had a family of fans in us before that night, he now has a family of devotees. Arlo gave something more valuable to our daughter than his music - he gave of himself and his time. Hope to catch him again somewhere soon.

Welcome to the site. So sorry to hear about your dad. Glad you all got to meet Arlo. He si so sweet & nice. My hubby Mike is origionally from KY & we went there in Oct for a reunion. He's from the hillbilly area. We had a blast...

What a great story. I drove 6-hours with the best husband in the world (listening to Arlo both ways), to hear "Times Like These" live in Lexington. Your daughter will never forget the experience.

I haven't been to Lexington in yrs. Last time we went there was to visit Mikes Aunt who lives there. Sadly, she is in a nursing home with Alzheimers. It would've been nice to see Arlo there...

"The road to a friends house is never long". Didn't think twice about the 400 mile road trip to hear that CD live in Lexington. Didn't get to see much of Arlo in my 'past life' raising my kids. They're in college now and are a bit surprised to see their 'new/old' mom emerging (lol). I showed them my scrapbooks with newspaper articles and my first ticket stub from '68 at Orcherstra Hall in Chicago. I copied them and gave a set to Arlo when he was here. So much fun to look back and I'm so glad I saved it all. Those were the days of 'Peace, Love and Rock 'n Roll'.
