This is an ausome piece of memorabillia.... Would love to add this to my collection. But I was 12, and my brother got stuck in traffic on the NYS thruway. It was CLOSED MAN!!! The New York State Thruway is CLOSED!!!

But during my stint of seeing shows. I've seen about 10 of these acts live. 11 if you can count Hot Tuna as being Jefferson Airplane. I've seen Hot Tuna 5 times, and once Grace Slick made a cameo performance. It was AUSEOME....

There is a story on ABC.COM that Arlo asked everyone to light a match. I wonder what made him think of that and what did that look like?

one can only speculate len. maybe it inspired John Denver's verse in song. " like a fire fly in the sky "... just being obtuse


I wanna see this new comedy about Woodstock. I hope it was well done, and actually funny, fielding in on some truths.

Or really, what did that feel like?

From where I sat at a distance watching the news, my heroes in the bands had their convocation. Whatever bad was going on anywhere else or on stage, the people had come to party... and it was good.

Is that a historical event? Dunno. My question is, how good did it feel? I wasn't there.

I went to a Woodstock "tribute" concert tonight, at the Strathmore, a lovely music venue right outside DC (Arlo played there last year). Lots of fun, and a few amazing performances, all by locally-based musicians (though are known outside these parts). Bill Danoff and his son, Owen, performed "Coming in to Los Angeles" and acquitted themselves well (not that it's the same...it could never be).

I'm looking forward to "Taking Woodstock" -- great cast (Demetri Martin, and Eugene Levy as Max Yasgur) and I've liked Ang Lee's other movies. My understanding is that the focus is on Martin's character -- Elliot Tiber -- whose family owned a motel which became the base for the organizers. Tiber had quite a summer that year -- he was at both Woodstock and Stonewall. It sounds like it has all the makings of a great story.

I went to a mini Woodstock Reunion once. #3 first time Woodstockers. Richie Havens, then John Sebastion went on, and after his encore, he said the evening has just begun, and we saved the best for last. Arlo played with the first Xavier.

John Sebastion was great tho. My guitar partner, Richy Ward was 19, and I was 32. We had front row center, and these really lovely ladies with low neck lines, were sitting next to us. Sebastion, jumped off the stage and did a sorta waltz, playing up really close to these women, really, being a big flirt. Of course the women loved it. He was great. He acted as tho he didn't wanna quit playing after his encore, and we gave him a standing ovation, and as he bowed, I couldn't help, but extend my hand, and he shook it.... *you can't make this shit up. It's one of my favorite concert experiences,, I've ever had.... & Richy was really loving the show. It was one of his first concerts. We've remain best friends to this day.

Another highlight, as John Sebastion put it, was Arlo and Xavier. Arlo ended with Elvis's " Can't Help Falling in Love with You" and the story about being in Germany, drinking German beer for three days, and having another country, so tuned into an old Elvis song. Everyone singing that song.... It was the first time I had heard him sing it, and the story was auesome. It remains one of my favorites.

But I never went to the original Woodstock... My Dad wouldn't let me go, and my older brother got stuck on the NY State thru=way, as legend has it. It was closed.

Fond memory's for sure...
