In about 2005 or 2006, Nick Masullo wrote a song about health care in the U.S. It won the best new folksong of the year at the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival in Okema (please forgive spelling), Oklahoma. Arlo was there that evening; Nick stumbled as he walked up to or left the stage that evening. Nick has since died of MS, but he was a sweet and compassionate, intelligent man. It seems like we need some music to help transform hearts and minds as the health care legislation is in conference between the House and Senate. I am wondering, Arlo and/or other readers, if you have thought about Nick's song or if you have ideas of how it could be sung and gotten to the airwaves quickly in order to be helpful. Of course, I don't know anything about making music, but I was reading your (Arlo's) August note about health care. The other evening a local peace and justice center was raising funds in honor of Nick, in order to provide a roof, when Ginny Masullo, a nurse and Nick's wife, read the song. She asked, "It seems like we need this song now. Is there a way to use it to be helpful?" I kept thinking about it and considering the timing, thought you would be the best person to ask. Thank you for your thoughts about this, and thank you for your time. A happy and peaceful new year to you and all. Molly Longstreth

Welcome to the site. If someone has a copy of the song maybe they could do a video of it and put it up on YouTube. Just an idea...

I haven't heard it. I searched it last night and found references to "To Your Health" (if that is the name), but no recordings.

Thank you for the thought about recording the song and posting it to Utube. Any other ideas? It may be too late as the bill is close to being agreed upon, but maybe it could help some congresspeople in their races.
