Hey everybody! Just wanted to drop in and say "Hello," it having been a million or so years since my last posting. It's not that all y'all aren't missed by yours truly. Just that ... Oh, I don't know... Bearsville seems so far away, and it's nice here. But it would still be pretty nifty if Arlo et al would/could come back down here for a show or two, now that I could actually get to the venue and all. (Got a car finally! Got a car finally!)

Thanks, Cheryl. Hope you're doing OK these days -- Sorry to be so woefully out of touch with the state of everyone's wellbeing. Having turned into a cliche ... I've got seven cats now. Count 'em: 7. Not my fault, that's my story and I'm sticking to it, they adopted me, happens every friggin' time I hit the center of the country... and for the first time in my life, I've got a tomato plant topping 8 feet in my back yard. Eight feet! Makes for some good eating, tell you what.

Well, that's probably TMI on my part, but surely it's less awful than the sound of my whining, which was becoming all too strident for my own tastes. For some reason they don't hate me on general principle as much down here, which is greatly relieving to moi.

So, that said, the question remains ... can we get a little more Gurthrie down here? Doesn't just have to be the Guthries. The Seegers are more than welcome, I'm sure. Minglewood is the name of the latest "place to be," although the Hi Tone (where Elvis Costello filmed his HBO special) is only a couple of blocks from my home here. Of course, Minglewood is only a few blocks away. And then there's the Overton Park Shell (now the Levitt Shell,) where Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash and all them guys cut their teeth and got their chops. They do a spring and fall concert series. And then there's the Botannical gardens. Or the Orpheum. Or I'm sure the GPAC and the New Daisy would be happy to have all y'all back. I can get there now. And afford to get in. My fortunes have changed since Bearsville. Did I mention that already ...?

Careful kids, lest I decide to fly somewhere ... or worse yet, drive there in my black Durango (heh heh heh -- a road trip car I can live in if things go bad again).

Wow, 7 cats. We used to have cats but every time Mike & I had one they died. last time we got a baby cat, it died so I said that's it no more cats cuz they always die on us. Too sad losing them...

We live on a horse farm out in the boonies. The average life expectancy for a "barn cat" here is around two years. Sooner or later, a fox or a coyote or some other critter will pick them off. I have three cats now, but they don't go outside (too dangerous). Probably been through 7-8 barn cats in the 15 years we've been here.
