I tried to send earlier but had trouble with my password. Did Graduate from U. on MO in 1975 but became unemployed due to economy & decided to to the one thing I always regretted - not studying music at the university.

Am presently enrolled ( in theory & other required music academics) but the Music Lit class offered this semester is the History of Jazz & Rock & Roll. Impossible to cover the enormous amount of music produced in this period but I was more interested in Jazz as & lived through most of the R & R.

Today I am giving a presentation ( asked to give something not covered during semester) and originally wanted to present - Moody Blues - infusion of Rock & Classical Music ( I was classically trained when young) - couldn't find much to help me so I decided to go with - (please don't cringe) ALICE"S RESTAURANT. Am 59 and everyone in the class in 22 or younger & none has heard the song before.

Called the presentation: "HOW A MUSICAL MONOLOGUE, COMEDIC & SATIRICAL LYRICS AND A GUITAR WITH A CATCHY SEMI RAGTIME COUNTRY SHUFFLE IS ABLE TO CONVEY AN IMPORTANT POLITICAL MESSAGE AND ASK FOR CHANGE." Also including how the song is about idiocy. Will go through highlights of the song - am including the portion from the movie group W Bench - will have everyone sing at end & ending with "SOMETIMES IT IS GOOD TO LISTEN TO OTHERS" which refers to your meeting Steve Goodman, not too excited to hear his song, finally agreed to listen, and it became a terrific hit for you. Actually your version is the most beautiful.

Hope I am depicting everything correctly. If there is anything else you want me to add, please let me know. Unfortunately I am leaving at 9:00am Central Time for class but if there is anything else you want me to include my phone number is 972-462-8908. Again apologize for the lateness but I tried last week & had trouble logging into the website. Debbie
