Hey everyone,

I just registered and wanted to drop you folks a line to say, "hi!". I've been listening to Arlo since I was a kid. I have many fond memories of watching Alice's Restaurant at my uncle's on Thanksgiving. But the best ancedote I could offer is listening to "Coming Into Los Angeles" when I was 12 and asking my pop "What kind of key is he talking about". He laughed and told me its what you use to unlock the door. But anyway, I see Arlo has posted here on occasion and if he happens on my message, I think he is the greatest and I hope he comes to Cincinnati sometime. I'm a musician of 15 years and was also wandering are there others who fancy themselves as such and do any of them ever post any of their material?

I'm a newbie too. I just saw Arlo. I had such a great time. I had never had an opportunity to see him until last week. The paths didn't cross but I remember listening to Alice's Restaurant in my formative years and he always put a smile on my face. Thirty years later, here I am, a newly inspired Arlo fan. The humor's still there and it's finely honed. His songs are all excursions.

About your musician question: I've always fancied myself a musician, but I don't play an instrument.

Welcome to the site! It's fun doing Arlo stuff. He's been to Cincy before but it was never when we could get up there from VA to see him. We did get to go see him in Covington, KY once back in was it 90 or 91 or 93? That was a fun show!

So your a musician? I was one-fourth of the Kingston Trio, back when they were known as the Kingston Quartet, until 1957, when another career came calling & I ended up pitching for the Washington Senators (lifetime record 4-7 before I tore my rotator cuff).

Meanwhile, the Trio went on to great success without me, but I have no regrets as my oboe didn't really fit into the musical direction they were to embark upon.

Hope you'll hang around & enjoy yourself here. Just watch out for weird posters.

We've got some wierd posters on the basement walls that the kids put there...

LOL! We have some weird posters in our den & bedroom. A few of Arlo, Mikes Elvis & Dolly Parton posters, some of the Monkees, one of Tommy James & the Shondells & one of Chico of the 70's show Chico & the Man. You should see the back of our bedroom door. I have Arlo pics all over it plus a couple pics of Dylan for fun & a Woody Guthrie postcard...

So is it kosher to post url's to songs we've recorded? I figure if you enjoy listening to Arlo then you must have good taste in music.

Ah Joe, I don't recall you ever telling us you worked the oboe! I'd like to hear that sometime.

Here's a celebrity fact about Pgh. I bet you don't know. Did you know Bobby Vinton taught oboe at Duquesne when he was a student there? Probably in the mid to late fifties. I think he was a grad student at the time.

Wow! No, I didn't know that, GerryB, despite being a graduate of Duquesne's law school & spending a lot of time there going to basketball games (yeah, I'm a glutton for punishment). That's something I'd never heard before.

Why were you nervous? You play well & sing well---I'm listening right now & there ain't nothing to dislike.

We'd love to hear it. I wish I knew how to get the video tape of my autoharp & dulcimer playing up online. That would really bore some folks lol...

I started learning the banjo awhile back, took some lessons, learned and mastered "She'll Be Comin' Round the Mountain". But, since my wife hasn't recognized it as such, think I'll delay my tour for a while.
