I noticed on the concerts page that it says that the Bethesda, MD show is updated. I was wondering what was updated about it. Does anyojne know? Thanks in advance to whoever knows...

If you look at the EXPANDED view of the schedule, you'll see that there's now a link to the venue. Maybe that's what's updated?

I've driven thru Bethesda on a couple of occasions & found it to be a dreary town. I don't believe they've updated the town at all since it was founded.

Speaking of Bethesda I'm gonna have to be real careful driving there LOL! One time when Arlo came to Wolftrap Park in Vienna, VA, I missed my turn cuz they changed the name of the exits lol. So I had to get off at the next exit or so to turn around. I got off at Bethesda, MD. Big mistake. I fround myself in a right turn only lane & needed to get over in the other lane cuz I didn't want to turn right. Traffic was coming & I couldn't get over. No one was behind me so I stopped waiting cautiously to get over. Well a fuzz pulled me over. I wondered what was I in trouble for. They have this dumb law there you can't stop in the middle of the right turn lane even if ya need to get over & there is traffic coming keeping you from getting over. So I got a ticket for it. Fuzz said I should've gone around the block. How would I know this? I don't live in MD. I was careful & what did careful get me? An $80 ticket. So do be aware of their fuzz up there if ya go to the gig. I know I will lol...

Driving in NJ isn't much better. They have this thing against turning left at an intersection..you can't do it. To turn left, you have to turn right...using one of those things they call a "jug handle." One problem is you don't know if the "jug handle" is before or after the intersection. I have tried to look ahead and anticipate where it is because I had missed a number of them...and as a consequence, have also driven into many a drive way.

Whats wrong with a simple left turn lane, with it's own light....works for 47 other "lower 48" states.

Of course here in Arkansas, we have this "middle" lane for turning.....and it's the same lane for BOTH directions....that gets "real fun" too.

You can't turn left at alot of interesections in Richmond, VA either. Now I know why Arlo has a bus driver. He's smart...

maryland driving=crazy. Metropolitan Area Driving=scary. Maryland has some crazy laws about driving, but whatever works i guess.
I've been to the Strathmore before... but i haven't been to the new center that they built (which is where Arlo is playing, i assume.) i have read about it though. i found an article in the Post right after it opened talking about how fantastic Yo-Yo Ma sounded in it. Everything the entire auditorium is built so it is perfect for sound... even the lights. i was amazed. so, whoever goes, enjoy... i don't think i'll be able to.

i love DC area music venues... they are fantastic. wolf trap, birchmere, 930... *sigh*

I love the fact that I'm 15 minutes away from Wolf Trap if the traffic is moving; we've seen some great shows through the years,and every spring we eagerly anticipate their summer concert listings. The Birchmere is just about my favorite concert venue; I was just there a couple of weeks ago. There's also some smaller venues that are pretty close by. There's always enough going on in the DC area that anyone could go out on any day of the week and not have to go very far to hear some great music. The Kennedy Center has free shows just about every night on their "Millenium Stage" that we've attended. Yeah, the traffic mostly sucks in this area, and every week I spend time travelling around the beltway but it's nothing compared to what we had when we lived in Torrance, CA and had to deal with the Los Angeles area parking lots/"freeways"At least it MOVES here! We've delivered wedding flowers ON TIME to places throughout the downtown DC/MD/VA metro area, and mostly you just have to be patient. Ya just deal with it, and leave early or be creative and take the back roads to get there! The same strategy works when you're going to concerts in this area; you just have to assume that there's some crazyness going on/presidential motorcade/fender bender or broken down car that is going to cause delays, and always have an alternate route planned.

i got caught in a motorcade the other day. they close up to 2 blocks down for that guy. doesn't he have a bullet proof car? this is ridiculous.

have you ever been to Jammin Java? i've played the open mic there twice. it's pretty sweet. monday nights at 7.

Look at the bright side, maybe that motorcade was intended to protect you from him and not him from you.

Jammin' Java is great! I've been there a lot...and my work is close to there. Mondays were busy for awhile so I haven't been to the open mic. Have you been to the Folk Club of Reston-Herndon? That's every Tuesday at the Tortilla Factory in Herndon. Mostly open mic, but we hire people who play better than we do once a month. I've got a 25 minute set there on the 12th..yikes! It should be interesting, if not amusing. Folk Club's got a website..just google the name. We've also got songs for your listening pleasure that were recorded live at Folk Club on the website in the RHFC Live! area. I'm in there with friends under a silly band name, and my daughter has a song there, also.

The motorcades can be a little frustrating...I remember back in the fall, when I couldn't get on to 66; they had every ramp blocked because the motorcade was going to pass by and they didn't want any cars in front of it or around it and it was heading for the Dulles Airport area so Dubya could speak somewhere close by. I did see the motorcade passing by going the opposite direction when I finally got on 66. They had people with rifles on every overpass! Scary...!!

Give the guy a break. Clinton, Carter...they ALL get the same protection. Kerry would have received it also. It's what we do in this country...protect our president....no matter who he is.
