I played hookey from work on Thursday and went into NYC with my wife and kids for some fun end-of-the-summer stuff like a boat ride around Manhattan, lunch in Chinatown, dessert in Little Italy etc. While in Greenwich Village I stopped at Bleecker Bob's record store and found a pretty unusual item - at least for us non-Aussie Arlo fans. There was an LP in the rack for an album titled "The Very Best Of Arlo Guthrie" (Reprise RS 5258). Manufactured in Australia in 1971, "The Very Best Of Arlo Guthrie" is an eleven track album that precedes Arlo's US "Best Of" release by some six years. It also features a completely different track listing. The tracks are:

02. Ballad Of Tricky Fred
03. The Motorcycle Song ("Alice" version)

The front cover of the LP depicts an Arlo-like figure (almost definitely not Arlo) wearing a black derby and sitting with his back to the camera in front of a sign that reads "You Can Get Anything You Want At Alice's Restaurant - Vegetarian & Health Food." The back cover features the standard black and white promotional photograph of Arlo from that period.
The LP is primarily notable as this, I guess, is the only appearance of "Ballad Of Tricky Fred" on any Arlo-only collection LP. Anyway, I thought I'd post this for info the vinyl hounds and Arlo completists out there!

I appreciate that; I'm a vinyl hound & hadn't seen that one. There's several good vinyl stores around here, so I'll definitely search when it's better days; Katrina has normal life on hold right now. But I'm looking forward to getting this record that I was unaware of. Thanks.
