A while back Martin Guitar company put out a 30th anniversary Signature Model and I believe there were only like a 100 made. Does anyone have any info on the subject. Oh, and you can forget ebay! Thanks.

Special features of the six-string
Arlo Guthrie guitar include a headplate
that combines the classic Martin raised
gold foil logo with a pearl inlaid and
engraved representation of Alice's
Restaurant, the notorious church building
in Stockbridge, Massachusetts,
where the infamous "Massacree"
occurred. The unbound genuine ebony
fingerboard features inlaid "circles and
arrows." The words "Alice's Restaurant
30th" are inlaid at the 12th, 13th and
14th frets. Arlo Guthrie's name is inlaid
between the 19th and 20th frets. The
top of the guitar is Sitka spruce with a
highly colorful three–piece abalone
pearl rosette. The sides are of selected
East Indian rosewood, and the two
piece East Indian rosewood back has a
Martin style 45 back inlay strip. The
guitar is housed in a unique denim covered
hardshell case.
The 12-string limited edition "Alice's
Restaurant" Commemorative utilizes
fingerboard and headstock inlays which
are identical to the six-string model.
Standard 12-string modifications have
been made to the neck width and
shape, the interior top bracing pattern,

They made 30 six string and 30 twelve string guitars...

This was several years ago...the original stock was sold...sometimes they show up on eBay, and sometimes specialty shops have one or two...the last ones I saw in a shop were at the guitar shop in Downtown Disney in Orlando in November, and I think someone who posts here bought one of 'em...I think they were asking around $4800, and they were used.

A similar guitar would be a 000028H. It's basically the same box, but without the extra custom pearl. Elderly Music in Michigan orders these custom made from Martin because they're terrific guitars...www.elderly.com/ And these would be new, WITH a warranty... and you could always have it autographed by the Folkslinger. I think these run about 40% off list, somewhere around $2000 give or take a little.

You could also look into locating an M38..it's the model six string that Arlo plays in concert...there's a lot more of those around. I've seen them (used) for around $1500-$1900.

They're the Unofficial Martin Guitar Forum, and they're a fabulous group of people. There's a buy and sell area on there, and I know couple of Arlo Martins have come up for sale there. You could post a query on that thread and see if anyone is interested in parting with one.
This group is friendly and helpful..I've met a lot of them in person at their yearly get together in Nazareth, PA in August. There's a lot of collective knowledge there, and some of them can tell you more than you've ever wanted to know about Martin guitars.

Martin calls this size by two names Msize as opposed to say a Dsize or they call them OOOOsize as opposed to say a OOOsize. The number usually refers to how "fancy" the guitar is. Elderly Instruments http://www.elderly.com/ usually special orders a few this size as stock items as the owner of the store, Stan, is a big fan of this size as well. Don't think Martin has any this size as regular production anymore but has two "Custom Editions" and one "Limited Edition" models being produced. They have a very nice balance to the sound for a big guitar.

I have an "Arlo" guitar.

..... It's NOT a martin,..... it's an Aspen 12-string. But ADG was nice enough to autograph it for me in Interlochen, Michigan. (That makes it an "Arlo" guitar).

But what REALLY makes it a true "Arlo Guthrie" signature-edition guitar is that...

(I would've wanted Arlo to write that part himself, but there was a really long line of fans for him to meet with, and I'd already taken up more than my share of his time with two photos and his autograph on the front,..... so I wrote the inscription on the back, myself).
