Post subject: Planning a Family Event

Hi,
For 19 years my family celebrated Thanksgiving Dinner by first listening to the noon broadcast of Alice's Resturant , then giving thanks.
Unlike Arlo, as a poor inner city female, the military was the answer for me. I am now a recently retired disabled American Veteran.
There were times that I was not with my family on Thankgiving but no matter were I was I always managed the 18 minute phone call and we listen to Alice resturant together.
As part of my retirement, I am planning events with my husband and three children. On Oct 7, 8, 9 we will be heading from Worcester Ma to Niagra Falls.
I would like to add a stop at Alice resturant as part of the trip.
I am looking for any advice.
Such as best time to visit. Is there any change of getting tickets to the show that weekend ( I am willing to pay a premium)
Is there a lot of walking. Is the area handicapped accessible?
What is the MUST DO?
How much time should I plan for. Is there a place to stay overnight.
Bed and Breakfast etc.
ANY AND ALL INFORMATION would be greatly appreaciated

Thank you
LT. Theresa A. Morse USNR(RET)

...that's a wonderful story, Lt. ....

.....as for the concerts, at this time they are sold out as far as i know.....but they do keep a waiting list since people often drop off or can't get there....i suggest calling George at the Guthrie Center at 413-528-1955.....he's very helpful.....try to talk to George directly....

...as for accessibility.....it has not been easily accessible ( i use a wheelchair part time and need assistance, too) but people are very willing to help and i've seen many disabled folks get in and out ... as i go generally twice a year and have gone in and out many, many times.....it is possible and not that challenging..... they got a motorcycle in with no problem;)
..in the spring when i was at the Guthrie Center, George told me they were hoping to have an access ramp this summer....but i don't know if it has happened......it's an old building, but the side entrance is about 4 steps a flat area, then one step into where the concert is....it's very beautiful and well worth seeing if you love the song or the movie....once inside it's very easy to move around...everything you need is on one floor....

...alice's original restaurant is in Stockbridge, about 6 miles from the Guthrie center (where that Thanksgiving dinner was) and is called Teresa's cafe.....it's easy to get to...but may be one step up....that's what i remember....
there is also a tailgate party on Sun afternoon across from the Church...
and lots of other places to see in the area..

...as for a place to stay i may know of a motel...please write me at KHarmony47@aol.com if you are interested...as of a couple of weeks ago they still had a couple of rooms available.....very close to the Guthrie Center....

...good luck and hope to see you there...

Hi, Lt. I, too, am headead to Niagara Falls that weekend, from central PA. Usually I go to The Church for the Arlo shows, but this time around I decided to head "west" instead.

Maybe we'll meet up in Niagara. Send me an email with your motel reservations. I'm staying on the Canadian side. If you do get in to one of the shows, you'll have a terrific time. Everyone will be there (except me)... and be prepared for lots of hugs.
