I was at a crafts/antique fair today and found this vendor selling videos and DVDs. One video caught my eye so I bought it and I just finished watching it -- The Arlo Guthrie Show :D :D WOW!! It was GREAT!! I'm SO excited!! It was from 1987- a show filmed on TV in Austin, Texas. Special guests were Pete Seeger, Bonnie Raitt, David Bromberg and Jerry Jeff Walker! It was VERY COOL!!! They ended the show with everyone singing Amazing Grace. Songs like Gates of Eden, The Garden Song & CONO ... to name a few! WHen did he EVER have a tv show?? :?: Arlo was GREAT!! Just wondering if anyone else knows about this show!! Were there more?? WOW!!

I remember taping that on PBS when it was first aired on 2/17/87. I think I still have the tape somewhere. I remember the date because it was right after my Mother-in-law died and I watched it over and over. It comforted me somehow. I think it was a precursor to Austin City Limits which is on PBS on saturdays. I might be wrong about that. There was another PBS special from the '70's with Arlo and Pete that was really good too. I'd love to get a copy of that. i don't believe that there was a regular Arlo Guthrie Show.

I also taped the show with Pete and Bonnie and David. I later bought a copy from Rising Son Records.

Lee, I think you're referring to the late 70s PBS show in Vienna, VA with Shenendoah? There may be a few copies floating around out there but I never got one... wish I did tho. Someone did send me a copy but it got lost in the Xmas rush mail a few years back :(

I remember when that was on. I think the first time was 1986, but it was before I owned a VCR. We had a little portable TV with an earpiece, hwoever, so I hooked it up to the stereo & made an audio tape of the show. I bought a VCR the next year, & a day or so after I bought it, they reran the show, so it became the first thing I taped with my new VCR. I still watch the tape once in a while.

The first time it aired, as soon as the "Amazing Grace" finale began, they cut to a guy begging for pledges while the song was shown behind him on a little monitor. The guy was talking over the song, asking for money, & you couldn't hear the song that well. During this spiel I called the local PBS station & told 'em that I was gonna make a pledge until the guy pulled that bullshit stunt, but now they could forget it.

THAT was the MOST annoying moment in TV PBS HISTORY........I hate when they do that..........even more than when the interrupt the show so long you forget what you were watching  Talking over Arlo is UNFORGIVABLE
