I'm an Australian woman now 51 years old, an old flower child and anti war activist. Recently bought Alice's Restaurant on DVD... can't stop watching it! I still have my original LP recording. It brought back so many memories of my life in the late 60s/early 70s. I am trying to get my three 20 something sons to watch it with me so they can appreciate just how important Arlo and his music is and how much they take their personal liberty for granted. I am in the same ball park as you I bought my copy of Alice's Restaurant on DVD 2 months ago and I cannot stop watching it too I cannot get enough of the Car-Car Song it is cute and so is Arlo as a youngster. I feel like a flower child and part of a commune watching the movie. I have fantasies about going back in time and changing the course of the movie with me starring in it and meeting Arlo, just like the movie "Somewhere In Time" with Christopher Reeve. All I have to do is find a penny from 1969 and repeat the year day and month so I can travel there. Imagine that?

Yeah, it has not been easy trying to have a copy of Alice's, the movie, as it was never released on VHS in OZ. (I even tried our best 2nd hand Cult video outlet, thinking they might have got a copy from who knows where, but no luck).

It was on channel 7 a couple of years ago, (that's where I got my copy)
I can't remember it being on TV any other time.

And as you know it ain't easy finding Arlo CD's even at the Indy stores, (I'm hoping my review I did of Live in Sydney, in the Courier Mail, will have people asking for them).

At least we in OZ should have our own Aussie iTunes store from tomorrow (hopefully). The big announcement it due at 9 o'clock Tues morning in Sydney.

But hey, with the great service RSR provides I'm happy to order from there. (You'd be amazed at what turns up in those packages!)

having just turned 50 last week, I can claim to be of the same vintage as the rest of you...

Alice's restaurant LP is framed in my spare bedroom.... the CD is in my car and the DVD is either in my player or about to be placed into it.

comparing photo's of Arlo now to those scenes of him in line in his undies waiting for the military exams are absolutely funny....

Thank heaven for RSR, or almost nobody would have Arlo's CD's.....

Oh and there is more one thing I want to add, I notice the scene at the service station in the movie just before the Thanksgiving Feastie , OMG gas prices were so cotton tailing cheap then 33 cents a gallon. When I saw that I nearly choked! Now we pay between 2.50-3.00 per gallon. No wonder that microbus was good on gas traveling back and forth
If the gas prices keep skyrocketing we may have to put beans in our gas tanks, also makes the engine rev up a blast and burn a hole in road and we can get to our destinations quicker and our asses across the border

They must have filmed that part in New York City. Gas was 25 cents a gallon in Kingston at the time. Of course most cars got 10 miles to the gallon at the time so it all evened out.

I'm soooooo excited! I read your post Sally, and rang my local EzyDVD store. They have 2 copies of Alices Restaraunt on DVD, so I've got them to hold them for me and my daughter will pick them up tomorrow for me! One for me and one for my friend in Sydney that I went to high school with back in the 60's! Yay! Can't wait to settle in tomorrow nite with a glass of Chardy and big screen telly.

Are you kidding sallyd ? You saw it at Big W? For $8.oo? I always look thru the DVD's and CD's in Big W, Crazy Clarkes and places like that, in hope of finding a stray Arlo product but will have to look again. I have to go closer to the big smoke to Big W, but they are building one nearby me now.
