anyone know about this LP back in 1980? it is supposedly an interview with songs promo sent to radio stations?

This is the first I've heard of this one. Now I'm curious to know more about it...

Maybe that was a promo item for radio stations for Outlasting the Blues?

I have a copy of the Rock & Religion LP. Rock & Religion was a radio program that examined the work of contemporary rock n' roll artists whose music (as per the cue sheet) imparted "interest in the moral and spiritual issues in America." Each program was pressed on vinyl and made available to FM stations circa 1980. The Arlo Guthrie feature was presented in two parts (Part One (RR:59) ran 28:20, Part Two (RR:60) 28:45). My copy indicates that Part One was broadcast on March 9, 1980 with Part Two following on March 16, 1980 (but these may be the broadcast dates of the local market from which my LP was sourced). Arlo is interviewed by host Mary Neely "backstage after a performance in San Francisco." The interview segments are intercut with excerpts of official album tracks from Alices's Restaurant, Running Down The Road, Amigo, One Night, Arlo Guthrie and Hobo's Lullaby.

Thanks Hank, for the reminder... I thought it sounded familiar... now I remember listening to Rock in Religion on FM radio (maybe WBAB on Long Island?) on Sunday mornings!

I remember there was the rather hip, liberal catholic/mystic oriented magazine/journal(sorry for all of the slashes) called Radix. There was a picture of Arlo in a Francescian robe and an interview that was really different and quite good. Some insightful thoughts on prayer an meditation. This would've been around the time of Outlastin' The Blues. Some Evangelical music press took the album to mean that Arlo had done a full Dylan style converstion to Christianity. Cockburn and Van Morrison were also making music with similar Christian/mystic overtones. Interesting time.
