What a wonderful concert! I really enjoyed listening to it! You did a great job, and I really appreciate the risk you took to record in Carnegie Hall!

If you record another concert, PLEASE leave in all the commentary and stories between songs...that's half the fun of going to an Arlo concert...you never know what he's going to say, and frequently it's hilarious and not to be missed. You have to be creative about where to make the cuts to separate songs, but it's worth the hassle!

The commentary is all there. This is complete for the exception of a dozen or so camera clicks from my neighbor to the right of me. I may have missed one or two, but it's a hell of a lot less distracting now. I also needed to declick I would say about 50,000 loud claps from my neighbor behind me. I like to track the stories with the song correlated with. With Arlo's show it only makes sense. Imho no need to make a separate track for stories. Glad you enjoyed it. Carnegie Hall is probably one of the most difficult to capture a quality recording with the music much lower than the raucous crowd. You really have to set your levels low and process everything on the 24 bit files in post processing. No risk btw. Arlo taping policy allows it and the venue does not pat you down like a common criminal.

They may not pat you down, but I know people who have been "removed" when caught with recording equipment in Carnegie, or caught taking photos .

It always amuses me when venues check purses and stuff...if I (or anyone else) want to record a show, do they think I'm going to put the recorder where they're checking? Nope, that puppy is going in a pocket, which they don't check. They also never check women's bras....!

there's also a recording feature on aniPhone..

Bra's are a good hiding place for phones and such. Ain't no one going in my bra lol. It's so stupid how Nazi like some of the concert places are about cameras, and recording equipment. Let us have fun at the shows. We're already having fun at the shows I know, but don't detract from it. :)

I wish they would have told the person to the right of me to stop taking pictures. Anyways I'm not getting caught once i'm past the door anyways. I don't do "open" taping anyway like some people do at festivals with equipment worth thousands of dollars. Mine is a modest setup that is never out in the open. I'm not going to post my method on a public forum obviously but the people all around me don't know i'm recording from beginning to end. Now to get ready for "The Who" @ Madison Square Garden

DrG, Thank you so much for posting this and for all the work you did on it. I was able to be there (third row), but I think the sound on your recording is better than it was in the hall (especially with headphones)!

Sue, I haven't listened to all of it yet, but I don't think there's much talking missing -- Arlo didn't do as much storytelling as usual.

If ya ever see me wearing a DDG-51 ship's hat, assume I'm taping... Long hair works well to hide cords! :)

I do need to see if I can't wire up a remote LED to the peak indicator on the recorder though. Would make getting the levels right a bit easier.

What are you all using to play FLAC files? I downloaded a player from Download.com and my anti-virus program went insane. I had to delete it, immediately. :(
