Some guy apparently saved every poster he could from every popular folk artist, and taped every concert at his venue unbeknownst to the artists.. He died, and the owner of Wolfgang's Vault bought up all the concert tapes and posters and photos and stuff. He's apparently being sued by just about everyone, because most artists did not know they were being videotaped (or gave their permission), and they're not getting a cent from the concert DVD's he's selling. There doesn't seem to be any Arlo concert DVD's, just a lot of extremely expensive posters, handbills, photos and old unused tickets.

The tapes are those of Bill Graham, of Fillmore fame, who's given name was Wolfgang. Hence the name of the website.
The lawsuits, etc. are because when the tapes were made (which in fact most artists knew, or didn't care about at the time) the concept of showing them on the internet, or selling them on DVD, was not in anyones imagination. The whole issue of copyright law with regard to distribution and display of music via DVD and on the 'net needs a complete review...

That stuff is pricey. They oughta give the proceeds to the church. I'm sure they could use it. There are some cute pics of Arlo on there...

A great new book! "Steve Goodman: Facing the Music" by Clay Eals.

Forward by a folkslinger we all love, and many, many Guthrie references in the book. It's a pretty complete book about Steve's entire life...774 pages, $29.95.

You can order this at Border's...they've got a special deal where if you order a book on their in-store computers, they guarantee it will be there in a week, or it's free. My book came in a day late, so it was free.

The Thursday August 2, 2007 issue of "The Boston Globe" Calendar section on page 11 has an item written by Scott Alarik about Arlo's upcoming appearance at a folk festival at Lancaster Fairgrounds.
He also comments on "In Times Like These" saying about it, "He sings favorite originals and traditional gems, set to elegant, simply woven arrangements by Oxford Universtiy choirmaster James Burton. But there's no need to worry that New England's favorite hippie is going highbrow. He's on his first completely solo tour in years and calling it, with characteristic sass: "The Arlo Guthrie Solo Reunion Tour: Togther at last."
