...it was one hot night in Lowell....in lots of ways....
...Mother Nature is rehearsing us to be a rain forest the last couple of weeks...so they moved this concert from Boarding House Park indoors to Lowell High School....which, at least, was air-conditioned...
...this is an old and particularly fine summer concert series that has been kind of fading the last couple of summers....but the Guthries hit town and wow...the place was jumping....sold out, the park rangers (that's right)...were squeezing folks in with shoe horns..... and everyone was very, very excited in the 2 hour general admission wait before the show, throughout the show and after the show.....
... another magical experience..
...i read in one of Janet's found articles that arlo didn't remember whether he had played Lowell before.....but i pulled a memory of a concert probably 20 years ago in some club in Lowell, in a cavernous basement with Shenandoah....didn't fill it up but by 11pm there were an enthusiastic 25 or so of us left and they were just jammin'....those were the days of "Changing my Name to Chrysler"....and Terry a La Berry's "Oh, Mom"....times have changed....sorta.....

...as always, arlo read his audience well...and he and family played what they would love and there were lots of happy folks.....i'm still smilin'....
