My partner and I flew in from Toronto to catch the Carnegie Hall show. With a lineup that stellar, we just could not afford to miss the opportunity. Great city, fantastic music, wonderful people. It just doesn't get any better than Nov. 29th, 2003. Arlo, make sure you put Toronto on your schedule for 2004. Plenty of people here would love to see you.

Is it just me? Did I miss something? My eyes just ain't what they used to be. In all the setlists and reports I've read on this board, as well as the other folder in Arlo's Restaurant, I don't recall seeing This Land is Your Land listed.

If that wasn't sung, how come there wasn't a lynch-mob after the show?

Before straying too far off topic, I would like to clarify my intentions for the suggestion to visit the archives and contribute (or get stuff, as Arlo best suggested), as I emphasised in my first post and setlist. Simply wishful thinking. No blame or shame needed here. I was motivated to say as much after recent experience with 2 separate non-profit organizations with which I associate. In one case fine-art posters, a gift to the membership, were promptly sold by a printer's assistant for his profit, and the other, original illustrations in a free publication I edit were used in another for-profit publication. Sharing the beauty of these items is fine for profit or not, but unfortunately, both non-profit groups did not benefit, and we were disappointed. Whatayagonnado.

A return here to the glorious memory of that evening would be welcome. We thought of those who wanted to, but who could not make it that evening --dead and alive!-- you were there in our hearts.

This Land was going to be sung - but if the show had gone into overtime there would have been a lynch mob on stage! We had to vacate the stage or all the proceeds from the evening would have gone to the stage crew instead of the Woody Guthrie Archives

Arlo, are you able to make suggestions to the people who will be doing the editing of the tape made at the show? If so, maybe This Land can be added during the opening/end credits so at least when the show is aired or put out on DVD, the song will be heard.

As This Land wasn't on the program, or recorded, it wouldn't be on tape and can't be included if the integrity of the evening is to be kept. There's no way to recreate the moment...

Sad but true! Matter of fact there's almost no way to include all the stuff that was recorded due to the nature of CDs and the time restraints it imposes, let alone add stuff that wasn't there to beging with.

I would think an event such as this concert would warrant a double-CD... is that too cost prohibitive, or is it an executive decision still waiting to happen??

and a separate question....

we noted that there were quite a few 'celebrities' in the audience that night (all for Harold as well as the folks on stage we're sure) such as Tom Paxton and Paul Colby... the question was asked, after your Dylan story, has Dylan EVER come to see you perform (and vice-versa I guess)? Or is it that Thunder and Blunder, never the twain shall meet?

The show began at 8:00 and ended just before 11:00 - deduct 15 minutes for the intermission and you still have 25 minutes that can't fit on 2 CDs (70 minutes each). That's the problem.

Put the other 25 minutes on a pt 2 cd. You did it back in 1967.

Actually adg, the show started more like around 8:10, so I think I found you 10 minutes! Those guys can make it fit, if they can't, just send Abe over to help them!

If you put the evening out on DVD format...you can have it all on there. Even the appaluse and standing ovations for the set changes! I think the market is there.

Howdy - I just wanted to add my two or three cents on the Carnegie show. It was like being in heaven, pure and simple. When Ronnie Gilbert belted out her verse on "Saints go marching in" I felt such a surge of energy!
I do hope the show is available on video/dvd - it's something l would treasure for a long time. I'd love to see the whole thing- the tuning, the jokes about tuning, Pete forgetting the translation to Gauntanamera for a moment - the whole thing, all the human beauty.

Cherrel more venues need to take that camera thing seriously.... Altho I take photo opts at shows, it somehow distracts me from said. So cut to the chase, I'm better off, just enjoying the music and the vibes. Let other people take photos... Chances are sooner or later I'll end up seeing them.

For the life of me, I cannot understand, who would buy a Program from a show, they didn't attend???? If I'm not there, I just don't want it... Autographed or not.... Just Rb's opinion....

That's not to say, I wish I had been there... My Mother would of loved this show. Not too sure about the wife... I'm glad I have birthdays once a yr. RAL cause one can always get what they want....
