Thursday evening is Hoot night too don't forget, so if you're coming for the week-end and can get away one night earlier, and you actually play stuff, it might be fun to hear what you do - might not. But, hey it's only us.

I don't play a musical instrument, nor can I sing to save my life, but Michael, Lance and I will be there... parking cars and servin' up some fresh brewed coffee!

Is there a house bass amp, there at The Church?

The church has no back-line stuff... except a nice Baldwin piano. But you may be able to run it thru the system.

OK, I'm gonna try to bring the doghouse. Acoustic is fine and I actually prefer it if the space is intimate enough, but if it's needed, run a line to the system. See you all there hopefully.

I used to play a little guitar. Took lessons awhile, than started playing by ear to current music. Than it was camp songs in the summer around the fire. I was just a backup player to fill in for the guy who knew how to play something other than chords.

Now I play a drum and sing in a different language (see the previous posts about powwows)

Cant wait for friday. Than again, I am dreading it becuase I am gonna be late and there will probably be a shload of traffic.

*sigh*

..... I'm missing out.

Someday I'll get my mortgage under control, my kids will live elsewhere, and I'll have enough spare change to leave Michigan for a week or so to vacation in Massachussets. (Around Housatonic, I suppose).

..... And I'll bring a few guitars.

(Maybe my banjo).

Okay, I went to the Hoot...I played, and it was a LOT of fun! It was hard to see with the lights, but I don't think everyone decided it was bathroom break time while I was up there.
Thanks to George, who's making the Hoot happen...open mic venues are very important to people like me who love to play and sing and write an occasional song. It's great to have a place to perform when I'm in MA.
We finished with "Goodnight, Irene" with all the performers who had played backing each other, and singing in harmony. Pretty good for unrehearsed and playing together for the first time!
I hope it's still a happening thing in October when I'll be up there next...I'm already thinking of new stuff to do...
I did get to do something I'd always wanted to do...play my fiddle in the church through the sound system. Ahhhh!!

Oh man, I'd have loved to have seen Sues show. She's a great autoharp & guitar & fiddle player. The hoots sound like fun. If I were close enough to go to the church I'd attempt to play my autoharp, dulcimer & canjos. It would scare folks away so ya'll are lucky I'm too far away...

Cheryl - if you were going to play, I'd come and listen! I can't play anything (but wish I could!!) My daughter was so excited about this, she made me ask George if 'kids' were allowed to show up and do something. He spoke to her and the answer was "ABSOLUTELY" - she wants to recite some of her poetry (she's 15) and maybe play her french horn. So, since I live about 90 minutes away, guess we'll be there some Thursday this summer for the hoot!!

I'm a rotten musician so thtey wouldn't want me lol...
