Cyndy, just as Arlo has the "right" to exit without a meet-and-greet, so too do you have the "right" to be disappointed. Maybe sad would be a word that some folks here might "permit" but I think no matter which word you use, it's how you felt and you're entitled to your feelings.

I was sorry to see him leave early on Friday and Saturday nights but I also knew how tiring it must have been to work under the hot lights in a room without much ventilation in such extreme weather.

In years gone by, I used to be disappointed by a song or 2 he chose, or the energy level he exuded. I've changed over the years to appreciate every single story/song or facial expression. Even if he sings a song I don't particularly like, I'm happy he's on stage and I'm loving every second of it. But I still reserve the right to feel disappointed, sad, or whatever word others choose to fill in the blank if the show is "short" or he leaves early, or doesn't feel like signing arlographs. Regardless, it's still Arlo and I guess it'll always be Arlo... as it has been for me for 35 years!

Cyndy, you don't owe anyone any explanations for your own personal feelings.

Sunday was a typically GREAT Arlo show. Although some would rather not hear it, anytime I can hear the classic 18min 20sec it is a special night. Kinda like Frank Sinatra doing My Way. The only sad thing about the show was missing Gay. She is such a fixture at the concerts and a special person. Hopefully she will return once again. Get Well Soon!!!

So far I haven 't been disaapointed in an Arlo show. I saw where he said Donovan & James Taylor were in town & that got me wondering if he stopped by to see them...

Jesus I hate to beat this horse to the ground. But It made me think. Cyndy posted, than I. I hope I wasn't the catylist to this 'dissapointment' mode. Ect...

* I've been Arlo's best critic at times, other times I might be the worst. It depends on what show I'm thinking bout at the time...

*** THE ONE THING I DO KNOW, out of all of this.... Is ADG should take this as a HUGE compliment... When people stop wanting, a quick hello, nice to meet you, or share an auto-graph.... ( remember he has lots of ours. Mine & Millie's. Whoever signed the cheque that yr. for RBR. )

Not that that should change things. If your lucky enough to catch him for an autograph, it's like catching a fish while fishing...( I personnally have more fun just being at one with nature. If I happen to catch a damn fish well hey that's a bonus )

Yup, the day that that Guthrie Mania stops would surprize me. I've thought about it, and CANNOT imagine being in the right place, at the right time, time and time again..... Maybe it's my health, that slows me down, but I just couldn't do it, at any price.... If I see you down the road, great.... I just hate planning, ect.... Being there is FINE....

This notes for U.... We love you arlo, autograph or no autograph......:)

rb

The show might have been the BEST Arlo show I've ever seen -- the last song made me cry. Wish I had the words.

Well I can't help with your not talking to Arlo after the show, but I can get you to the words to the song, if it was My Peace. Try this:

http://www.woodyguthrie.org/Lyrics/My_Peace.htm

When I heard it last December, I thought the idea that it was such a "going away" sentiment seemed pretty haunting, since Woody wrote it in the hospital.

I really like it when Arlo does some of the unpublished Woody stuff. I thought Holy Ground was one of the best songs from the show with the Klezmatics.

Sounds like the concert was great. I wish the church was within driving distance fo me. I've only seen Sarah lee and Johnny there. What a great venue for concerts!

I loved the way you explained your feelings to Cyndy about appreciating Arlo for whatever he did or did not do. All things that Arlo does are precious and are not to be taken for granted irregardless of how disappointed we may be because he didn't do exactly what we wanted. We have a right to feel our feelings, just as Arlo has a right to perfom how he wants to.
It's true about enjoying and appreciating Arlo for whatever he can give and share with us...and to never forget that he's Arlo.
Arlo is a gift from the universe.

P.S. Terrie, thanks again for those lovely church photographs of Arlo. I also noticed that the fork and knife at his table were standing straight up. Was that a magic trick or a photography trick?

Caron, the "trick" to making the silverware stand straight up is to put stakes behind them and anchor them.

Thanks for responding Terrie and Cyndy.
Now the cat is out of the bag. We, now, know the magical trick as to how the cutlery stood straight up. I almost thought that Arlo had the magical influence. I think that's so sweet that you set up the cutlery like that. It's eye-catching.
Thanks for your response, Cyndy, I felt moved by what you said.
In life, I never take anything for granted. Life is a gift.

THANKS Caron - for responding!!! :D I truly believe that LIFE is a gift -- NEVER to be taken for granted. :D Arlo is a TRUE gift to mankind - he's such a beautiful person. My husband and two daughters fall into that category, too!

You're welcome, Cyndy, and it's always a pleasure for me to read about your accounts at the church. I've never had the opportunity to go to the church and experience what you and Terrie have. I live in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and it's a long way from Great Barrington, Massachusetts, where the Guthrie church is. Three months ago, Arlo came to my hometown of Vancouver, and I had the chance to see him perform for the first time. It was a wonderful, astounding experience to see the three of them perform live: Arlo, Abe, and Gordon. The music sounded so good. I savoured each moment they were on the stage. I even brought my binoculars so I could see the beautiful musical instruments on stage, and of course Arlo, himself. Abe looks exactly like the photographs I've seen of him.
The whole experience was as if some story book characters had walked out of the pages of a book, and had come to life, and I was meeting them. After the concert, I was able to introduce myself to Arlo, and get his autograph. I believe that he should be able to attach a face to a username.
Thank you, Cyndy, for sharing your experiences with Arlo, at the church. I read about your HD walk at the church, and how it was raining, but you and your daughter still braved the rain to go for the walk.
Thanks, again, to Terrie, who provided many photographs, spanning several years, of events at the church. Both of you have enabled me to visualize being at the church.
