I can relate as Mass is too far & expensive for us to travel to but I would love to one day go to the church shows. It's a dream of mine. Prayers & vibes just said for ya. Didn't know Arlo had a new blue guitar. I bet it's neat. Believe me you'll get hooked collecting. I collect on way too many stars lol. But it's a fun hobby esp Arlo...

A new blue underwater guitar??? Sounds like it may be a Gibson? Unless it's one of them new carbon fiber things.

I remember--I think--Killer saying that it is a Gibson and it is carbon-fiber.

So, without knowing almost anything I was right?? I wish Dubya could do that too. Them carbon fiber guitars can go from arctic to desert and back again without the need to tune! So, now Arlo can play gigs without wearing his glasses, cuz as we all know, he learned to tune by sight.

I went to the Carmel concert last night and have nothing but good things to say about it. Here's the setlist to the best of my memory:

This was my first time seeing him, and although I was aware he would tell stories between songs, I didn't realize how entertaining they were until I saw him live. One story was about marijuana and how now scientists are saying majijuana can reduce alzheimer's. Then he said "the whole reason I quit pot 40 years ago was because I couldn't remember who I was at times." He also mentioned that Marilyn Monroe had a saying "Have you ever noticed that 'What the Hell?' is always the best response to everything?" He had several other jokes throughout the night.

An exciting part of the day for me occurred when I was driving by the venue at around 3 to make sure I knew where it was, and saw a tour bus in the parking lot and a few men standing around. I had to do a u-turn because one of them sure looked like Arlo, and sure enough it was. So, I got out of the car with my dad and asked Arlo if I could get a picture and he said no problem, so I got my picture with him. Then, after the show I hung around at the bus with a few other people and got him to sign my Running Down the Road album cover, so that was cool.

I went to the Berkeley concert too. It was great!! The first Arlo concert I have ever been too with out Pete. I dragged my parents. I have listened to Arlo since my dad bought me Alice's restaurant in 1975ish.

Great show cant wait for next year when he will be back.

I too dream of the church and a concert, someday.

You ask a very interesting question. First we were following driving instructions from yahoo. Once we got over the Golden Gate bridge the first time "the driver" (whom shall remain nameless to protect his manly pride ) decided within about an hour that 'This can't be right! I think we missed a left turn back in S. San Fran.' We got off the freeway bought a map and got back on going north, I think. We crossed the Golden Gate bridge again and "the back seat driver" said, "Honey, I think yahoo is full of crap. Don't we pass Berkeley on our way to San Fran? Just pretend we are going home and we should run into Berkeley." Then, "the back seat driver" heartlessly decided to take a snooze.
In the mean time, the progressively confused "driver" crossed the Bay Bridge but took the wrong interchange in the very confusing tangle on the other side. If you are in the wrong lane sometimes it's too late to change your mind. "The driver" decided to retrace his steps and start over. "The back seat driver" woke up and became the bossy, annoying, superior alpha female and took charge of which lane and interchange to take. Once the alpha female felt we were finally pointed in the right direction, she once again heartlessly took another snooze. We had started this adventure at 11:00 am. At aprox. 3pm "the now pitiful driver" woke "the bossy, lazy back seat driver" and said, "I think we're here." And we were! The bossy, lazy, alpha female cared not what perils "the pitiful driver" must have faced to achieve our goal, but having become more mature over 29 years of marriage she did not make fun of or humiliate "the driver" but praised him for a job well done.

I have been truly punished for my lack of diligence and compassion for my faithful "driver", boyfriend and fellow Arlo fan on the way to the concert.

I can't believe you got to meet Arlo!

I tried to get my husband to wait around after the concert in case we would have a chance to meet Arlo . But he had to work the next day, and I felt sorry for him after all he went through to get us to the concert while I napped. I didn't have the heart to pressure him and we didn't get home until about 1am as it was. (Partly because he refuses to drive over 60 miles per hour because he claims it saves on gas)

But you can be sure I will never make that mistake again!

Next time I am driving and we are staying until the cows come home.

It really wasn't much of a hassle getting to meet him. Probably because it was a small venue and a lot of the people there I don't think were the type to hang around for something like that. So there were only 3 of us bothering him at the bus. He came out at around 11:10, so you would have to wait an extra hour and if you have to work the next day, that could make it difficult. One of the guys there said Arlo makes it to the Bay Area about once a year, so you'll have another shot at it. Hopefully, next time it's a weeknight.

Thanks! Glad ya'll had fun at the show. Next time do pressure the hubby. In 1988 after becoming an Arlo fan, I found out he was coming to Wolftrap Park in Northern, VA & I wanted to go. Mike wouldn't go because he thought it was in another state. I kept trying to tell him it was in VA but he kept insisting. We had gone to see the Monkees there in '86 on the way to a Monkees convention in Philly which is why he got it confuse. Boy does he feel silly about it now lol. But I spent the nite of the show listening to Peter, Paul & Mary on the radio & feeling so bummed out...

Tomorrow, we'll see Arlo at the historic Fox Theater in Tucson. This is a beautiful old theater and the show should be great.
