I will be at the show in Lowell, MA tomorrow as well with my brother. I can't wait because it has been shamefully a long time since I have been to one of Arlo's shows. I think the last time I have seen one of Arlo's shows was when he was performing with Pete Seeger back in the late 70's or early 80's. I am also hoping to see him at the Church. Anyhow, for those that are going tomorrow enjoy the show. I know I will.

I just noticed that the Birchmere gig disappeared from February's schedule slot...sigh!

Thanks for the info! I didn't know that. I was gonna go to that & Hampton too. Now I am wondering if I should go to Durham instead. Hadn't been able to see him there in awhile cuz lately when he'd come there it was right after severals shows here in VA & I just couldn't swing it after all the VA shows. Anyone know what the Birchmere gig was pulled? Just curious. If they think Arlo couldn't sell there, well he always has done well there. I am so thankful the 2 days at Hampton are still there. I was gonna drive on back home after the Birchmere gigs instead of staying overnite cuz of it being so far between there & Hampton. I am staying overnite between the Hampton shows so I don't have to waste gas driving an hr & 1/2 each day. We may stay over after the 2nd nites show so we can hit some malls in VA Beach. They have some stores there we don't & I need to go to those lol. I feel bad for those who could only make the Birchmere shows...

I know the Birchmere has an exclusionary policy...you can't play within 30 miles within their time window, which is, I think,somewhere between four and six months. My guess is the Strathmore gig and the Birchmere gig were too close together. That's just my own personal guess, and it may not be a fact or factor or a reason why it disappeared. I just know that within our local folk club, we've had signed performers cancel a concert because they got a gig at the Birchmere, and the two were too close together...even tho we're just a 70-person room.

Yeah, I'd heard that too & wondered if that was why. I figured that was why they didn't have him this fall. We'll miss him there but am so glad for 2 days in Hampton. 2 days are better than none...

I'm not sure, but I think there's a loose relationship between the Birchmere and Strathmore -- some concerts at the Strathmore (like the recent Randy Newman concert) are co-sponsored by Birchmere and Strathmore. Arlo isn't listed as co-sponsored, but the Birchmere may have done the booking. Anyway, I think it's more likely that someone somewhere decided that only a fool would come to the DC area is February when everyone who lives here wants to leave.

You're right. I could snow up there then. And if I couldn't get up there for a show due to snow I'd be pretty upset. One time when we went to the Birchmere, we brought my mom with us. My dad stayed home. We stayed over nite & there was snow on the top of the car where it was a slight snow overnite. My mom wasn't too keen on that. I wondered why they would book him that far North in a bad weather time of the yr. Let hope our area & Hampton, VA are snow free then...

I dunno. He just said: "Don't worry, we'll get there." or something like that. I'm good for about a 100 mile radius.
