Yes, you will have a great time. It's getting me excited about Hampton except there is one downer, Mike not being with me. It'll be my first Arlo show without him...

I am really looking forward to the show and my son is beside himself with excitement!

The new Richmond Hill theatre is just up the street from where we live, so this is a real treat!

The show was great and seeing and hearing Arlo from 10' away in a 613 seat hall was a real treat!

When we first got to our seats, my son said, "Dad, I'll probably be the youngest person at this show.". Sure enough, within two minutes two other 12~ year olds sat down near us in the front row!

I wish I had brought a camera with me, as the grin on my son's face during Arlo's "motorcycle in the living room" story was priceless.

Arlo sounded great, the band was pleasantly understated, and a good time was had by all.

My son's ultimate goal is to hear Arlo sing "Alice". During the ride home, he asked me if I've ever heard Arlo sing it live. I haven't. Maybe one day we'll be lucky. 50th anniversary, perhaps?

He seems to pull it out around anniversary time. Hopefully he'll do it before the 50th. I've heard him do it a number of times but he doesn't do it often tho...

Can't blame him though.... I can imagine that Chuck Berry sleepwalks through "Johnny B. Goode" and the Stones sleepwalk through "Satisfaction".

We can keep hoping though!

Alice's Restaurant must be a 18 minute curse following Arlo around (okay, a nice curse). First time I saw Arlo was around '72 or '73, and he had long stopped doing it by then. Sure I was disappointed at that time, but I really loved the show he put on at McMaster U. with John Pilla and a band of about 6 or 7. Soon I stopped expecting to hear it live and I was okay with that. I even heard the rainbow-coloured roach something or other at Massey Hall around '74, which was sort of a poor man's version of Alice's. But then around the 20th or 25th anniversary when he brought Alice's back, I thought it was kind of cool to hear it finally...kinda like opening up a time-capsule. But when I saw Arlo in Gainsville in Feb '07 and he was bringing it back again for the 40th, I discovered I was not really interested in hearing it at all again and I was sitting, I mean I was sitting there in the nice auditorium, and thinking about what great 4 or 5 songs he could have done during that interlude. Man, give me some Leadbelly or Woody or Dylan or Pete or Hoyt or, or, well all the stuff I fell in love with after Alice's.

Alice's was surely a phenomena in '67, but as Arlo says, thank goodness for records.

Couldn't agree more. But when you take your son to his first ever "grown-up" concert, he has a hard time understanding why he can't hear all of his favourites, despite the fact that they are clearly not the performer's favourites.

It's not a big deal, as my son had a great time and is still talking about the show. Fortunately there's a pretty good download of the Kingston, Ont. show on Dime, so I guess I'll be playing it in the car almost daily during my son's morning drive to school over the next few weeks.

You make a good point, Paul...kids today still gotta learn about litterin' and stuff! So, I guess I'll need to join in and sing it the next time it comes along on the guitar.

From the Aussie CD? "Rememberin' Alice"? I LOVE that story, as does my son, who can quote it word for word!

My son had threatened to yell out "Alice's Restaurant!" during the 2nd half of the show. I didn't say anything, but I would have melted into my (front row) seat had he done it!

Well, since 2010 is the 45th anniversary, maybe my (then) 13 year-old will get to hear Alice.
