Hey Arlo.
My name is Jeremy Rainer, and I am a sophomore at Fordham University.
I was at Carnegie this year with my family sitting in row D..a LONG way
from the upper balcony where we've sat ever since I can remember. I
can remember back to fourth grade--everything before that is kinda
blurry--I can trace it back that far because I remember one instance when
Pete was singing "Oh What A Beautiful City" I think it was and he pulled
down a screen with the notes so that people could sing along...I didn't
have my glasses at that time (which was before fifth grade) and I felt
so bad that I couldn't see the notes and sing along and I started to
cry:)
This year I found about the show by chance and ran down to Leventhal's
office the next day to get tickets.

Anyway,
What a thrill it was to see you and all of the other stellar acts
onstage in tribute to Harold. My dad has always told me about The Weavers
and how he went to the reunion 23 years ago (before I was born--I'm
19.)) I'm so glad to have seen this one...they are electric! I'm glad
it was recorded...will a DVD/CD package be made of the concert?
We're really big fans of Pete, and have been seeing him solo and with
you forever. I'm proud to say that, as a senior in high school two
years ago, I managed to accomplish a dream of mine...I got Pete (with The
Mammals) to perform at my school. That was a once in a lifetime event
which will never happen again. I'm so proud I was able to pull it
off...seeing him in concert with all the standing ovations he gets just
makes what I did two years ago seem more incredible.

I'm very interested in folk music as social history. I guess I have a
passion for this stuff...Pete, Woody, you, Tom Paxton, Peter Paul and
Mary et al are all part of my consciousness. I went to the Alan Lomax
Tribute Conference at Cooper Union in April and it really inspired me.
I'd love to get an internship with the Woody Guthrie and/or Alan Lomax
Archives, or even work/intern at Harold Leventhal's office! I'm not
sure if any or all can be done, but any help would be greatly
appreciated. Oh by the way, I'm currently working at WFUV...engineering Woody's
Children!

Well I'd better get back to work now. Lots of papers and exams coming
up...
