Arlo in FINE form ... sounded absolutely wonderful. He was backed by Abe and Gordon--who also played several songs with Judy Collins (he is SOOO good!). Judy also sounded absolutely wonderful. Maybe our nasty weather is good for the voice?? At least they were dry--cold, but dry. Gotta tell you, though, audience was full of people mostly the average blunderite age. Didn't look like anyone gave up and left because of weather--lots of rain slickers and umbrellas.

Everyone was there to have a great time. People were introducing themselves to all around them. Seemed like all were having a great time--even a very uptight looking security guard broke out in a smile at Arlo's stories.

Anyway, the Arlo/Judy concert sold out--the first for this venue (1,675). Pretty place, but this week has been more like fall than summer. Was COLD and WET! Brrrr. Didn't do a great job keeping a set list. Had to put stuff away a couple of times due to rain ... didn't have any waterproof paper with me!

So, as for the set list (forgive me if I screw up titles and such--weird how I can sing along, but can't remember the title of some), here goes:

ARLO:

Chillin' of the Evening
Oklahoma Hills
St. James Infirmary
story about Australia and airport security there, which of course led to airport security umpteen years ago, which of course led to
Coming into Los Angeles
Slow Boat (??)
The Road Back Home (??)
story about Patriot's Dream
Patriot's Dream
Back By Popular Demand (new to me, so title might be wrong)
Audience member yells out "Motorcycle Song" (thank God it wasn't my husband!). Arlo told the how a song gets written story ... very funny
Then told story of seeing the poster in a pub of him and Janis ...
Me and Bobby McGee
This Land is Your Land (part)
Hmmm ... had a thought ....
This Land Is Your Land (finish)

JUDY (this is REALLY lacking since it was raining too hard to write--wasn't hard rain, but enough to wet my notebook. Paper is dry but very crinkly.)

Clouds
Someday Soon
Story about getting nickname Judy Blue Eyes
Cat's in the Cradle
Story about testifying at Chicago 7 trial--about what she remembers
Did a great bit ... medley of various types of songs (madrigals, rounds, old folk music) with stories, etc.
This Land Is Your Land
Leaving on a Jet Plane
Country Roads
that Clown song (the only thing by her I really don't care for)

ALL ON STAGE for City of New Orleans

I'm sure I left some things out, especially Judy, but it was a great evening--despite the rain.

Pam, thanks for sharing your fun time @ the concert! Sounds like ya'll had a grrreat time! I've not seen Arlo & Judy, sure want to tho! I really love that story he tells about Janice & him in the pub. It makes me laugh & think about a time when Janice WAS healthy.... I sure have missed her over these years! But that story, & well of course followed by Me & Bobby McGee, just makes my heart feel better! That Arlo sure has some Blunderful stories to tell! Also, too bad about the weather! Glad ya stuck it out & had good times!
Stay safe, everyone!
