I'm an Arlo-nubie,

and for our 24th anniv. last Monday my wife got us 2 tix to Mr. Guthrie in Grand rapids Mn. coming up shortly.

I see he doesn't sing Alice - must be cause it's too long?

I guess thats okay, it looks like everybody really enjoys his shows

I'm really wondering which CD to get while I'm there,

any votes?

That's gotta be one of life's toughest questions. I was faced with that last year and finally got Son of the Wind which I didn't have on vinyl. But my own favorite is Outlasting The Blues, then again Mystic Journey's very good.

I think you'll have such a good time with Arlo singing and reminiscing during old and new songs, that you won't even miss Alice (remember Alice?)

As for which CD to pick up, the proper answer is "All of them!"... but if you can't do that and have to choose one or two... the ones I listen to most often are Mystic Journey and Outlasting the Blues.... of course other people are likely to have different favorites, though.

Enjoy the show, and let us know how it was, and which music you choose to own...

It depends on the rules at the venue... I know Arlo doesn't generally mind photos being taken...

I don't think I'd suggest "sneaking to take a picture" because I had my camera confiscated at a venue once about 4 years ago. I dared to take a picture of Arlo walking OFF the stage for intermission and everyone was standing and clapping.

I took one lousy picture, the rest of the roll contained important pics of a renovation we'd been working on for 6 years. Abe came to my rescue and got my film back before it was destroyed.

I would call the venue in advance and have them clear the camera, otherwise... wait until after the show when Arlo does his meet-and-greet, there are plenty photo-ops then.

Just wanted to add; don't give up hope for the " meet and greet' after the show. Sometimes it takes Arlo a few minutes to get out. Time to finally make up your mind about which cd you'd like arlographed. Have a great time!

So far I haven't had my camera confiscated. If I was caught they just asked me to quit taking pics. I die trying LOL!

What to buy....hmmm. Mystic Journey and the Best of would give you a broad stroke. That is my opinion, though.

Enjoy the show and let the songs, stories and the moment just soak through you to your inner core. (I hope he does Joplin's "Me and Bobby.." for you all--nice bonus.)

just want to say I grew up as a little kid singing "i don't want a piclke.." so you can imagine my disappointment to find out I was scheduled in the same time slot as Arlo Guthrie at the Ottawa Folk Fest. last weekend. Next Time... I did manage to finish my set and run over to catch the last song which was great. This note is to say, I am seventeen and a musician and I am listening... these are our roots so if your daughter is 16 send her over here... we've all got them... ROOTS www.liamtitcomb.com
