I've been a fan of Arlo's for many, many years. I am almost as old as he is (smile). Just saw where he will be performing at The Ark in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

While I have seen Arlo in concert several times, my husband never has. I was hoping that we would be able to attend the concert.

Truth be told, my husband has never been to a concert since he has been an adult. He has spent the majority of his adult years behind bars. He was released from prison 4 years ago this past May after doing almost 20 years on his past sentence.

My husband is doing well in his adjustment to life outside of prison walls. Employment, however, is iffy at best for him. Too few jobs available in today's economy, coupled with a long imprisonment record does not make you first in line for hiring.

But aside from all that, my purpose in signing up for this board and posting is to ask why are the tickets so expensive to Arlo's concert? The Ark is asking $45 per ticket. Financially it would be a big bite to purchase one, but purchasing the two we would need is a serious bite. $90 for two tickets is a whole lot of money.

Live music is a wonderful thing, Arlo's music played live is even more wonderful, but why must it be so costly???????

There's a discussion on this topic in Arlo's Restaurant on page 4 titled Ticket Prices and Other Things. It includes a comment from Arlo (adg).
Hope you can make it to the concert.

Welcome to ArloNet sharri'smom!

I think the key quote there is
Quote:
The Ark is asking $45 per ticket

Each venue/show is different. Arlo comes to NY and can play a free show at Damrosh Park one day, and then play Carnegie for $55 a pop the next...

We all just do what we can, when we can, for as much or as little as we can afford... and arlo does his part as well.

and by the way, there are many of us here who are 'almost' as old... (and some even older than dirt! )

Welcome the site! The tix are kinda pricey for us too but we go anyway knowing it's our only chance to see him. Good luck in getting to go to the show! You'll have fun! :)

Sharri'sMom ... the Ark is a wonderful venue to see Arlo. I saw him there last year. (Won't this year because it's right before the Fall Revival in Mass ... so I'll be headed there instead.)

It IS a bite for those of us who are "cash poor" but is far more reasonable than what many other artists charge. Really, it's worth twice (thrice?) the price. By all means try to scrape up the money to go. You'll be glad you did.

Been to several concerts this year. Must say 45 dollars is rock bottom for top notch entertainment. It will be a concert you will not forget.
Must say Arlo puts on as good of concert as anyone I have seen. It's also nice to see that Arlo plays small towns and does not limit himself to places he can sell out.

That is pretty pricey. When I found our tickets on ticketmaster for the show in Rochester (Oct. 2nd), they were only $6 for student, and $20 for adults...so I find that really interesting that they'd go up like a whole freakin' $25 from the rochester show.

Welcome to the site, Trippy!
I'm mighty 'cash poor', myself (I just work part time) but $45, for Arlo is a more than fair price, as far as I'm concerned. I'll do w/o LOTSA stuff to save $$, in order to see him! Plus, Arlo &/or Family do many Free Concerts, hopefully one'll be headed your way! :P
good luck!

ahh! thanks for the welcome ruthie!!

Actually, I was just replying to sharri'smom (s) comment on the pricey tickets, but, yes, I do agree...i'd give up many things to see Arlo as well. :)

Just saw him in Rochester, i'm not sure if you read my comment under the Rochester, MN show post. :) MUCH happiness meeting Mr. Guthrie brought to me. hooray.

The tickets for the show at the UW whitewater aren't all that bad, $25/ticket. I'm also going to that show next friday! Should be a good'n...with Sarah, Abe and the whole gang!! FABULOUS.

Did ya have ta bring up 32 cents ruthie???
Well at least Arlo is in the same COUNTRY as you all!!
You know how I have to wait TWO MORE YEARS til BLUNDER DOWNUNDER.
We paid $35 (Australian) when Arlo was here in June.
Our dollar only bought about 62cents American at that time (its about 71cents at the moment)
We who love Arlo thought that was really cheap. ( and he would have lost money in the conversion when he went back to the states)
I'm paying $175 (Aus) for fourth row centre to see k.d. next year cos I love her so much and we get her band AND the Queensland Symphony along with her!
I saw the Eagles in '95 for $90 up the back and now they're $500 for front row!!! Same with Cher!!
I've been an Arlo fan for 35 years and his concert was one of the best I've ever been to (and thats been alot of various artists over the last 35 years) I smiled and laughed the whole time and as I've posted before it was a moving experience to hear Woody's own son sing
This Land is Your Land, as I still get homesick for my birthland and that is my prefered National Anthem.
