Arlo should play the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta's Little Five Points.

Why?

1) The owner (of Windstorm Productions and The Variety) is a bit of a sound buff and constantly works to provide state of the art sound for the people that come to the theater he resurrected from the ramshackle house of nothing it was when he bought it 15 years ago. Arlo's music would be well represented, and the paying public's ears would be treated like royalty.

2) The show would be promoted properly - Variety makes full use of all area print, grassroots and more creative promotional opportunities.

3) After Katrina, the guys who run this venue led the charge to have a celebration of New Orleans music by closing some streets and having displaced New Orleans musicians perform on October 2. This will be part of an all-day celebration turning Little 5 into a NOLA away from NOLA for one day. There will be high school volunteers collecting donations for the victims of the disaster, an auction of an eye-popping array of items that have been donated by regional businesses - and the evening will culminate with Beausolil and The subdudes performing at The Variety. Like Arlo's planned December tour, much of the money will go specifically to displaced musicians, and to the New Orleans music community.

The people at Windstorm Productions run The Variety - and the compassion and caring that they have exhibited since the Katrina disaster reminds me of the fine work Arlo and his people do at for the Berkshire/Western Mass. community through The Guthrie Center (http://www.guthriecenter.org/main.shtml) at The Church in Great Barrington. They also are headquartered at a classic building that like The Church, has been "dusted off" considerably in the past 15 or so years.

4) Little Five Points has an organic feel which would lend itself beautifully to the feel of an Arlo show.

ADG PLEASE call your booking agent and ask him/her to look into booking you at The Variety Playhouse. It would surely be a most memorable evening!

Atlanta is on the schedule (has been for a while), but it's elsewhere - can't remember where at the moment. Used to do the Variety a lot... it WAS fun!

Welcome to the site! It's fun here. I sure wish Arlo would come back to Richmond, VA. He's only been there 3 times since 1988 so it's way overdue for a gig there. :)

I will 2nd a Richmond date. Missed him at the Birchmere and was going to New York., but the price and supply of gas will keep me at home.
It's a shame he couldn't be here for the National Folk Fest. Looks like there will be some good music there.

I had seen the National Folk Fest & thought that would be a great place for Arlo to sing at. I ought go & check it out sometime if I get a chance. I got so much going on with the Roanoke & Charlottesville gigs of Arlos & then going to a reunion in the hilbilly area of KY that Mikes from. The Birchmere was a great show. Alices for the first time in yrs! :) I just looked up the National Folk Fest online & it's going on the same time as the KY reunion so good thing Arlo's not coming to it. The German Octoberfest in Richmond is that weekend & we can't go either cuz of going to KY. Everything good is all going on at the same time lol...
