It is always a special occassion when Arlo comes up here to the Great Northwest. I will be in Kent and in Bremerton. Altough I have seen him numerous times, there is such a great joyous presense at his shows that you have to experience to understand. I truly enjoyed his concert with the Seattle Symphony two years ago. An old friend of mine worked with Bonneville Power back in the 1930's building the big dams here and told me stories about meeting Arlo's dad who was hired by Bonneville to write songs for them back in the 30's. Songs such as Roll on Columbia and The Grand Coolee Dam are two of the more famous. Certainly would be great if he sang one or two of his dad's Northwest songs on his tour through Washington and Oregon as kind of a tribute. Looking forward to some great music from Arlo this week here in the Northwest.

Though I live in Australia now (my Mom was an Aussie War Bride, Dad in US Army WWII) I'm an Oregonian born and raised and those have always been some of my favourite Woody songs. I love the whole Pacific North West.

My Forefolks were Pioneers on the Oregon trail and Woody's music of the Dustbowl times and the Westward migration in the 30's kind of strike a chord with me because of that also. I know you'll enjoy the shows!!!
