I see I'm the first!! :D Well, this was an absolutely BLUNDERFUL show -- it was really AWESOME! It was a different kind of audience and a diferent kind of show -- I've yet to put that thought into words. Arlo was AWESOME and so were Abe, Gordon, David and Terry  I did not keep a setlist - sorry  but I'm sure Terri or Wyld might have one. He came back from intermission and went right into Alice --- NEVER FALTERED or misssed a word. It was great!!! 8) ON the very last song, Arlo was talking about Woody and how just the day before he found this song and just put some music to it -- the others in the band didn't have a clue and (as usual) picked right up on it and it was a beautiful song. It brought some tears to my eyes. I don't think he said the name of it - help me out Terri or Wyld!! ALL I know is that I want and need to hear it again!!! THANKS ARLO!!!!! The only weird thing was that he didn't come out after the show to chat and autograph things. I'm not sure why... except it was SO hot -- maybe he left to get some air! Oh well ... I was a bit disappointed but there's always next time!! :peace:

Cyndy It sounds like some great music, great vibes.... And as you say there is always a next time.

If I might speculate, for a second, as wierd as this might sound, I think being a folksinger, might just be the most burdening job in history. NOT ALWAYS. But over the yrs. we all know that arlo has given MORE of himself, to the people than just about any damn hippy on the planet... That has to build up weight over time. AND if arlo didn't hang around, I'm sure there was a good reason for it....

linear note. In 97, I attended a chuch show. I was in aue as I expected a long set list. After about 6 or 7 songs, he looked at Abe and said that''s it. And there was no encore... Later on to find out his wife was sick. The next RBR told a tale. of his wife Jackie going thru some very rough times. Breast cancer is a hard road to hoe..... I felt mad at myself for thinking ag was chincey, after learning that his wife was battling breast cancer...

Jackie beat it, showing that you can't drag me down philosophy of the typical Guthrie nature.....

will be at the church in Autumn. I hope to bump into you....

All things must pass
RB

It was an ABSOLUTELY wonderful show -- no question about it!!! :D I did a bit of work (agent 32) and I needed to get some answers for some indy music places in Woodstock so I figured I would ask Arlo after the show. As it turned out, I talked to Abe and got the answers I needed. You're right -- Arlo has given of himself over and over and he's a beautiful man. As many times as I've seen him (I've lost count!!) I always look forward to chatting with him and still get those silly little butterflies. So, I was being selfish- I'm sure he had his reasons for not hanging out after the show. Who am I to question or be disappointed? The show was really awesome and the last song did me in! Again -- there's ALWAYS next time!! I'll be at the Church in October -- hope to meet you and see you there RB!!
HAPPY 4th OF JULY!!!! :D

Wow... three wonderful, blunderful shows!!!!

Although I missed seeing a lot of blunderfriends, I know you were with us in spirit! It was a marvelous weekend. As usual, I don't have setlists... but I know Terrie has.... Maybe Judy does too... and JohnC has for Sunday... John and Reg, I'm glad you got to the one show, though it would have been great to hang around!

Hey... everyone... just wait til you see the T-shirts that John and Reg have had made up ... by Regina's son ... that they're selling as a benefit for the Church!!!! (Reg, I'm sorry if I stepped on toes saying something.. but wow..... I couldn't wait... it's a great idea, and Paul came up with a wonderful design!!!)

Happy 4th. I try and think of my immediate neighborhood, and again try and feel glad I'm not over there. Not that i'm on a guilt trip. quite the contrary...

To all the brave men and women in Afganistan and Iraq. RB salutes you and wants you all home ASAP

The song that Cyndy is talking about is one that Woody wrote lyrics to when he was in the hospital, probably one of the last songs he ever wrote. Arlo set it to music. It's called "My Peace", and he, Abe and Gordon have performed it in the past at the shows they did with the Klezmatics, featuring music written by Woody and Aliza Greenblatt, Arlo's grandmother, and maybe some other concerts, too. "My peace, my peace, is all I have, that I can give to you......". It's a beautiful song that gives me the chills and fills my eyes with tears everytime I hear it.

All 3 shows this weekend were wonderful! Each one was different, too, in it's own, special way, although some of the same songs were sung at each. "Alice" was the first song in the second set Friday night, the second song in the second set Saturday night, and the last song in the first set last night, if I remember right. Arlo also sang "Shackles and Chains", "Riding Down the Canyon", "Last Train to Glory", CONY, "Last To Leave", Gypsy Davy", lots of great songs. I didn't keep a setlist, sorry. I was having too much fun. Arlo and Gordon were having trouble because of the awful heat and humidity. The guitars kept going out of tune. Gay Lynch was unable to make it to the concerts again, and Arlo referred to her saying "Gay's not here, so we can't blame it on her." He's been known to blame out of tune guitars and broken strings on her in the past. Friday night was especially brutal before a front came through and it rained and cooled the air off. Arlo was sweating buckets. It wasn't just dripping down his face--it was dripping down the front of his guitar. I could see it from where I was sitting! I think he was totally wiped out by the time the show was over, and Jackie had the grandkids with her, so they probably just all were anxious to jump into an air conditioned car and drive home.

I meant CONO, by the way. Arlo hasn't written a new song. I'm tired, and have never been known for my typing abilities. I wish you could edit in this forum! Thanks, Bob, for the email.....

Oh, wait, you can edit! I just found the place! Oh, well. I'm tired. That's what I get for having such a good time. No point in editing now and adding to the confusion.....

:D Thanks Wyld!!! I'm glad you brought it up. Im waiting for JohnC to tell me which is the appropriate thread to "Launch" the T-shirt sale, but I was SO happy to see how well received they were at the church.

I will tell ya they are $15 for one 2 for $25. They have a two line message on the front that says "It was 40 years ago this Thanksgiving...") With a simple original (beautiful) silk screen of the church on the back with the message "Visit the Guthrie Center...NOW KID!!!"

They sold faster than I would have ever believed. But we have some left in various colors and special orders (sizes/colors) are possible- I know the artist - who has said he will make up one more batch by Ocean City.

The ENTIRE $15 or $25 is going to the Guthrie Center. Paul donated his time and talent and John and I donated the shirts. Any interest please email me at

regfaith@msn.com

Thanks -

I guess I sorta just launched it....! LOL

I had a great time at the show. Unfortunatley I showed up 30 min late.
I must have told 30 people that I got to see Arlo and the church! I have never been in the church and was suprised to see that it wasnt just one big room. I thought there was gonna be like 200 people! It was a big surprise to be one of a handful of people.

I taped what I was there for. Did anyone get a complete recording?

I met Terrie who took a few cd-r's off me. Hope you enjoy them.

I took a quick pic with my wife and Arlo out back right before he left. I felt uneasy about bothering him because he looked kinda tired and the kids were in the car, "but it may be another 5 years before I see you again Arlo." I had some things to sign but I can wait till next time.

Hopefully Ill have a setlist tomorrow. Im really busy right now (not too busy to be in the forums of course) because Im leaving for Illinois on wednesday for a week.

Thanks again Arlo, for being a cool, patient guy.

And that last song was great. CYNDY wasnt the only person with a tear in her eye.

happy trails.

I think the only thing people should expect at any show is a great performance...and, having given that, Arlo's got the right to walk out the door whenever he pleases after a show. He does not owe us autographs or conversations or anything else that involves his time. If all you expect is a good concert (and not assume that he's going to hang around every time for a meet-n-greet ) you'll never be disappointed. And if he does choose to hang around, it's a gift.
The weather was brutal on Friday...I saw the sweat dripping down the front of his guitar...down his face, into his glasses. It takes a lot of energy to perform under those conditions, and the show was terrific. He didn't owe us anything more than that. And at the Guthrie Center shows, he's a volunteer, too...so please don't ever be disappointed if he chooses to not hang around.

I wasnt disappointed at all.

It is rare to see someone like Arlo who takes time out for his fans. If he doesnt want to be bothered sometimes, I would understand.

I would love to sit and talk but I would be too nervous. I do my best talking on this forum.

I guess I chose the wrong word! DISAPPOINTED! The show might have been the BEST Arlo show I've ever seen -- the last song made me cry. Wish I had the words. Thanks Judy for tellling me that he's done it before -- guess I misunderstood in thinking he had just located the song. Thanks to everyone who told me not to be disappointed. All I wanted was a wonderful show and I got that. Sorry for leading anyone into thinking that I was disappointed. Let's just say that I was looking forward to talking to him. I was hot, too and can't blame him for not staying. I don't know why I feel compelled to explain why I said what I said -- didn't mean to ruffle anyone's feathers. An obvious incorrect choice of words. Good night!!
