Was lucky enough to buy some of the Original Maple & Molasses BATTLE GROUND syrup at the August 29th Ocean City NJ show. It's based on a Guthrie family recipe. Hey, we already had it on some peach pancakes and it's really good! If you're a fan of either maple syrup or molasses your gonna love this syrup. The label is cool too.

Hope he puts out a sugar free version so we diabetics can enjoy it too. You were luicky to get some. They've never had any at any of the shows I've been to...

Cheryl - I hear ya!!! I've never seen the syrup at any of the shows. Sometimes it sucks being a diabetic! When I go to the Church shows, I always want one of Wyld's peace cookies (my daughter tells me that they're delicious!) but I end up with the fruit and cheese (which is good, too!!) But, a cookie would REALLY be nice!!! Sugar-free ARLO syrup would just make my day!!

I don't see that happening...the syrup is a nice, natural blended syrup...the sugar free kind is a chemical mix. We're better off putting fruit or some low sugar or sugar free jam (Polaner All Fruit) on those waffles and pancakes. Yeah, it sucks being diabetic, but there's some tasty natural alternatives to the fake chemical syrups. Bananas and pecans, anyone??

I second that! I bet she makes great pancakes with fruit on them. I've heard the all fruit stuff is supposed to be good for ya. I does suck being a diabetic. If the syrup has 6 grams of less of sugar then we're allowed it is what we were told when we were diagnosed. So if Arlos syrup has 6 grams of sugar or less in it then you could have it. I wonder how many grams of sugar is in it...

I sent an email over to Jackie at Charles H. Baldwin & Sons, the company who manufacturers the syrup, asking about the sugar content. I'll post the info as soon as I get a reply. http://www.baldwinextracts.com/

The bottle of regular syrup in my pantry that the rest of the family uses has 52 grams of carbs per serving...I think that's most likely similar to waht Arlo's syrup is going to have...I think it's off limits to disbetics, folks!! Sue

now you all have me looking at stuff, my jug of maple syrup has listed 50g of sugars (i had a feeling it wouldn't be under 6)

i remember going to an old fashioned maple syrup making process thing at a program at an old cabin somewhere just outside the city, boiling down the tree sap and all that (one of the kids thought i lived there) "don't you live here?!"
i remember us all having samples to try and some of us our eyes rolling back in our heads due to high doses of sugar (i'm not sure it's natural for a person to sip maple syrup) but if you were careful, you could detect the different stages of maple syrup...and could imagine how it might go in homemade yogurt (or any plain) for instance, or on fresh made pancakes (my favorite). i don't use a lot of it, but when i have pancakes, i love it...or something like what sue is describing...that would be another delicious way to have them, i know i wouldn't turn them down.

No prob on the typo. Sometimes I feel like a disbetic lol. Thanks for the info on the syrup. It's gonna be off limits for me. Oh well. Some of those so-called low-cal but not sugar free syrups are loaded with large grams of sugars & carbs. Yikes...

Got a reply from Jackie over at the company who manufacturers the syrup and she said that the sugar content is just about the same # of sugar grams as pure maple syrup.
