Well i must say I ahve just returned from the Arlo Guthrie show here and it was dlecious...let me tell you one of the coolest shows Ive been to. And whats funny is Arlo talked about that one person just saying, "They went that way", can change the world. Well it did after the show in fact...becasue we asked a lady who was helping clean where we go to get autographs..She then said, " Oh go to so-in-so side". In other words, "they went that way". And there is where we met him and he signed some various things and we got a group photo with him..but what that lady who helped us doesnt know is that my friend said, "she would make a cd of her music and finish it." So that one helper lady has just changed my friend life...wird how karma works out like that..Anyway Id like to hear what other people have to say about the show in Anchorage..so post...I say good job Arlo

Hey rb, NE was my fav show to. It was filmed in Roslyn, Wash State. They have a NE Festival there evey summer (in July), so next time I get back for a visit to Ore in the summer I'm gonna drive up there to experience it. They get one of the stars of the show to go along.

At the beginning of the show when you see the side of the building with the camel on it that says Roslyn's Cafe, it actually used to say Roslyn Cafe so they just painted in the 's and made the name of the other lady (besides Cicely) who founded the town, Roslyn.

I love Mooses.

I've had fun over the yrs. keeping up with the actors of the show. Seems like the one I lost track of, my favorite charactor (Ed Chigliak) got lost in the shuffle.... Robert Morrow, isn't a hard guy to keep track of, as the show 'Numbers' is my wife's favorite show. ( I think she has the hots for Charley) lol....

And I was dissapointed, when Morrow landed a movie, and his charactor dies in a Hurricane, ( one of those manic storm scenes ) in the first 15 minutes...

The rest of the crew, is pretty easy to keep up with, as most of them have had carreers after the show. I never really liked it much, after Dr. Fleishman left, the show. The new Dr. and his wife just didn't cut the mustard...

but like anything else in life, all good things come to an end....

...i loved Northern Exposure, too....even though i was sure it wasn't "real"....i've always hoped to find a town like that to live in.....except for all that cold and snow......
....think the best part was that everyone got to be exactly who they were, for better or worse, and in the end.....everyone accepted everyone for the most part...there was plenty of space for growing and celebrating....whatever was right for you was there.....course it was a shortcut, and simplified....but what a life that could be....
....so if anyone knows of a town like that....could you let me know??...

kj: I sorta think as you. But in the same breath, Sicily Alaska, set for the show, was kinda like a 'Mayberry RFD' kind of scene..... Instead of Andy Griffith, playin his folk guitar, on the back porch drinking Aunt Bee's lemenade, and bonding with his son Opy... You had, some ruff neck, Alaskans, living on the edge of a modern day community, but with all the perks, that living in the sticks provide..... Mooses, Mammoth Elephants, that the old codge would make briscuts outta, for his winter suppley of meat... That kind of thing...

One of my favorite tv shows, is a childrens show, filmed in Ontario. It's called the "Forest Rangers'.... It was filmed from 1963, to 1965.... That show, a Canadian show, was ( and somewhat still is, as in Canada it's in Syndication) the most popular TV show, Canada EVER produced. The filmed aired 104 episodes, in a two yr. period.. SOMETHING, totally unheard of in todays TV, scope... Shit, it takes, a yr and a 1/2 to get just 8 episodes of the Soprano's..... Or e.p. The Bill Maure (sp ck) Politically Incorrect.... The have 6 or 8 shows tops, then it's postphoned for a whole season, before it's on again... Just a part of the times...

Yes, the Forest Rangers was aired in over 50 some countries around the world, and was as far as TV shows go, was Canada's cash cow, for it's time...

I'm dissapointed they don't show the thing here in the states. It's on TV land Canadas stations....

I was feeling a guilty pleasure, of a renewed interest in watching this show, untill I meet CLAYTON SELF, the webmaster of the Forest Rangers website.... Upon reading boards, I found that I wasn't the only adult that watches this show... Even Sparky admitted to the occasional watching of this show.... ( Injun two rivers talks to bears) ect....

Yeah, this is a Canadian version of a Sicily, or Mayberry, exept taken place in the Canadian bush, where there's no grown ups ( parents ) and the kids live in a Fire Rangers Fort. When they're not reporting fires, or smoke, they have all sorts of adventures with Mooses, and animals of all types... I highly recommend it.. I posted the website on RSR message boards, but nobody seemed to remember it but me....

Growing up as a kid, watching that show, made me think of my life,, as it wasn't much differant than the show. Cept I didn't have the big fort....But my parents were never home, and the wilderness in my area, was allot like the Bush, in Canada, where the show was filmed. Allot of great Canadian Actors in that show, that are still working to this very day....


If you want to find a place you mentioned. They are out there.... Pope Mills Ny, where I grew up, as a kid, is as much like anything mentioned here, relating to TV shows. There's the general store, the grange, the local Tavern.... And the people that live there.... Not un-common to see a Buffaloe, or white tailed deer, on somones pick up, outside the Sunset Inn... Rumor has it, that Groucho Marx, signed his name, at the old, Grange building, that has long since been torn down....

Hi. I really loved that show too. Saw it on AFN over here and then it came on German TV too, late at night though. But we never saw an episode with a new doctor. But as you say we probably didn't miss a thing.
