I do love Alan truly, but he dose compleatly do my tree in. On Sunday he was charging all his drill batterys and getting ready to go down to Cornwall to do some work on his friends flat. Tuesday morning I thought I'll get the chicken out the frezzer and leave it out defrosting, only to find it had already been defrosted along with everything ealse. He'd only gone and switched off the fridge freezer when he switched off his batery charger.

Luckly not being a family that lives out the freazer there were only a hand full of things in there, but still. Not agreeing with Factory Farming we eat very little meat and what we do have is expensive so I didn't want to just throw it away. There was still ice on the wrapping so I knew if I cooked the chicken, tray of phesant legs and burgers that night they would be ok, so round came my freind and her family, and tonight we had the left overs.

So nothing was realy wasted other than a little fish, and we had a good evening, so I could forgive Alan if he just bloody well admited it was him that switched it off rarther than comimg up with far feached 'balck's blue' reasons as to why it wasn't hime who turned it off.

Git.

Sorry about your "situation" Beverley......and it reminded me that it's nearly impossible for me to find decent pheasant legs around here anymore......any suggestions?

At the risk of having my already sore head verbally beaten, just remember, Beverley, Alan IS a guy, after all--food in the freezer is so secondary to electrical tools. I mean--which is more necessary for survival of the family? Gotta love 'em!

Yikes. I feel for ya. Hubby's can do stuff to drive ya nuts sometimes. I've been there. Hope things go better for ya. Hang in there...

Maybe the chicken turned of the freezer in an escape attempt?
Or, it could hvae been the fish, since they find it hard to swim away in frozen rather than liquid water.
Don't be so quick to blame Alan before the investigation is complete. I'm sure if you called Scotland Yard they could figure it out.Or maybe retain the services of Sherlock Holmes.......

Don't feel too bad. We have well water, so if the power goes off for an extended period (as it often does with storm related stuff) we can't flush the toilet unless we have forewarning and fill the bath tub up with water. And, no, we don't have a generator.

Dear Bev: Seems like you had the engenuity to make something good happen from a bad situation.

* it sorta reminds me of the ice storm we had here in North NY a long time ago. 7/8 of the town did not have electricity for the better part of 3 wks. Telephone and Electric poles snapped like twigs... We never really get natural dissasters in this area, so it was kinda exciting...

But for some strange reason, living on one side of the grid WE HAD electricity... Ours didn't go off, like everyone elses. A few neighbors on our side of the st. had power, the the rest of the town was out. NIMO, ( our electrical provider ) was passing out generators, untill they ran out. People were buying generators, untill they went outta stock....

At first it was kewl. The stores were open in the daytime, and some used flash lights at night... Really wired going to buy stuff, following a guy with a flash light... One at a time... ( I was wondering what i'd be like to be a pick pocket, but stealing just isn't my forte)

But the wierd part. First you'd tell someone, 'We Have Power'... And the first few days, people were kind, and would say, "thats great. Good for you!" Then it became, "Must be NICE" and get the AARRRGG face...

So after about 4 days, I took to lying... People would aske me, you have power? Nope would be the reply....


* In an odd way, I sorta envied the people without power, as they sat around candles, read books, kinda like camping... ** But I'm not a camper at heart, so I'm sure that feeling woulda lasted all but 2 or 3 days... Even now when the power goes out for short burst,, I have panic attacks.... Something about the sound of a telly, is refreshing to me, whether I'm watching or not...

Take it easy on Alan. Us guys are brain dead, unless it comes to one thing... & you can guess what that is... lol

We have the same deal with the well water here too. Can't flush when the electricity is out. Now that I'm with my folks in a small town 20 mins away, they have city water...
