I don't think I ever congratulated the Award Winning Folk Artist...so, congratulations. It's exciting to know an award winning folk artist.

I've never been to Tennessee..or almost anywhere for that matter. I've heard that Memphis is cool, Nashville is not, and most of it is beautiful but not a lot going on, so if you want things to go on you wouldn't much like it for long, but if you like things not to go on, then it's the spot for you. I do enjoy the regional stereotyping..it's fun and I'm proud of every stereotype of a New Yorker that there is and can only aspire to live up to them. However..has the award winning folk artist ever considered that the editor comes from New Jersey? I mean..there's a lot more to say there than simply Yankee Dog, you know.

NEWSFLASH:

This just in from the National Park Service, to prevent the thief of it's wild plants the NPS is sending crews into all the parks to locate it's plants, dig them up, dye them orange and then replant them, so far the operation is only being undertaken in Great Smokey Mountains, Blue Ridge Parkway and several locations in Arizona where rocks are also being tagged to prevent thief.....once tagged the goverment can prove that the root or rock or whatever in fact belongs to them and if caught with these goverment items, a person faces a five thousand dollar fine and sixty days in jail.

Isn't it nice to know that our goverment cares? I found out because I dig wild ginseng and as it is legal do so, but the govermentt just wanted to warn me that they are watching and if I happen upon their property then I would be in deep dodo.

Interesting article, Nathen. Had no idea about the poaching. Didn't explain WHY cultivated ginseng isn't as potent as wild--any idea?

By the way, congrats on being a prize-winning folk artist. Cool! Had several family camping vacations at Smoky Mtn Natl Park. Loved Gatlinburg before it went commercial. I'd like to get back there one of these days ...

Thank you folks, I think the idea of the smokey mountain park is a myth, try camping anywhere in North East Tn, or Western NC and you will get the same thing without all the crowds or expense.

wild gingseng grows very slow and can take years and years to mature, planted ginsing grows very quickly and gets large without producing the good stuff so it is worth much less per pound, think of it as grass and you will quickly see that where and how it is grown makes all the difference.

Confused Gnus and Views has learned that since Ann Landers has unfortunatly gone senile, that two women that were her editors now write her colum for her. We had thought of offering Ann an advice colum here at CG&V after learning of this, since senility would fit in well with our confused format. But we then realized that might mean that since we had a senile president from 1981-1989, some of our readers might think that we endorsed him, and we didn't want to take that chance.

Pepsi stole Get Stuff years ago. No surprise that Care2 is borrowing the gnusletter...although this is a gnuspaper so..might be different. At least Care2 offers moose-mail.com addresses. Pepsi hasn't done anything for us that I've noticed.

For the record..it's Ann Landers who's dead. I don't know if anyone is writing her column. It dropped out of our paper once they'd finished up the columns they had hanging around. Dear Abby is now Dear Abby's daughter and was co-Dear Abby before the official senility announcement.

Ann stated before she died that she wanted the column to die with her, and so it did. I find it rather ironic, tho... since SHE got the job replacing someone who'd just died! Anyway, her assistants have begun their own advice column, based on Ann's, but called something different.
