Well, that's one thing the leaders of my two countries can't agree on. You have to be brought up on Vegemite to appreciate it. For you who haven't heard the story.. I was born and partly raised ('til age ten) in Oregon. My Mom was a war bride from Brisbane. Every Christmas my Mom's mother (Nana) used to send over a huge jar of Vegemite, so my Sis, Bro and I were raised on it. We used to sneak fingerfuls of the stuff. There are some (not mentioning any names) who say it looks like axle grease and tastes like s..t. As Julia said, you have to spread it very lightly on the buttered toast. Try it sometime, you might be surprised!

Over to you Lar...........

HELP ZAP!!!!!

still have not tried vegemite, but i did have a guinness yesterday, so if i got this straight, it is merely a slight evaporation away from it?

A Brit friend of mine likes Marmite (England's version) but it's a pale substitute for the yummy gummy stuff from Down Under. I spread it on toast, sandwiches and even crackers. Especially good on English muffins with butter, cheese and fake bacon (Morningstar Farms veggie bacon). It's like concentrated Guinness bullion! And it's chock full of vitamin B complex so it's good for you! So, there!!!!

It's very difficult to forget the taste --- but sometimes the horrific trauma gets repressed as a defense mechanism......PTVD :P
