Dear Arnie,
I believe that was Howard, Fine and Howard originally!
Dear Nathen,
You may pick on me with abandon--as I said, I have six kids--I'm TOUGH! Good luck with your guild. I am in a quilt guild and it's really a great inspiration to see what other people are doing with their craft and to steal--I mean share-- ideas! (Just kidding)
Dear Cheryl,
Ohio drivers can be pretty rude, thoughtless and stupid--but then again, there's Boston where they're just ruthless.

Again to Nathen, I gave up telling my kids to play nice--I just sent 'em all to karate so they could defend themselves. (Not really, but now that I think about it....<img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/smile.gif" width=15 height=15> )

Dear Editor:

If a woman wears the birth contol patch and at the same time wears the stop smoking patch, will she stop having sex but smoke afterwards?

Another important question from the back woods of Tennessee.

Dear Backwoods Mr. Sinclaire from Tennesee type Dude,

We have no idea what would happen to a woman wearing both a stop smoking patch and a birth control patch. We do however have two ideas on how you may find your answer:

1) Write to Dr. Ruth.

2)Take what you must have learned in the back hills of Tennesee about sheep in the same situation and apply it towards human females. What works for one mammal useally works for all of them.

The Editor.

Dear Editor:

I took your advice but Betty had to have a little shave before we stuck the patchs on her, and I might add that after shaving all that wool off of her she did look really good, however my findings are not conclusive as all she had to say afterwards was " not baaaaad"

still curious in Tennessee

Dear Still Curious,

We are greatly relieved that you did not shave Dr. Ruth and put the patches on her for your experiment. I'm sure that Dr. Ruth is too........maybe. It's hard to tell sometimes with nymphomaniac trolls.
We also hope that Betty the sheep gets over this ordeal without the need for therapy.

The Editor.

Dear Editor:

In your reply to my last letter you wrote "We also hope that Betty the sheep gets over this ordeal without the need for therapy.

The Editor."

I would like to point out that my letter was indeed a put on, I was only pretending to abuse the poor sheep in question, in fact we here in Tennessee are proud to offer a safe shelter to Sheep that have escaped from the North, Betty in fact arrived here via the underground rail road from New Jersey where come devil had held her hostage in a sewing machine/vac. shop.

I would also point out that if I were a yankee and dating Betty, I would never shave her this late in the year as she will soon be needing her wool, also I was not em bare ass her among her friends, who might laugh at her behind her back, A Southern Gentleman would have much greater respect for his date even if she were a sheep.

The purpose of my first letter was to offer Arnie a taste of humor and to probe the editor to see if he might be awake.

I stand corrected in Tennessee

Dear Mr. Nathen,

We are sorry that we took you at your word and expressed concern for Betty the sheep. We won't let it happen again. We do however have one request. Please put down the banjo, untie Ned Beatty, and return him to his family, as they are very worried. Thank you.

The Editor.

Dear Editor:

Your news has always been entertaining and your humor clearly understandable but this time the Ned Beatty reference went right over my little pointed head. Perhaps you were having an Arnie moment.

I looked up Ned Beatty on the net and got this
"Chubby, sympathetic character player (even when playing bad guys) who moved into films after John Boorman saw him on Broadway in "The Great White Hope" and signed him for "Deliverance" (1972). Among Beatty's more than fifty screen appearances were the indelible roles of the evangelically opportunistic TV CEO in "Network" (1976) and as Lily Tomlin's husband, a worn-down concert organizer and father of two deaf children, in "Nashville" (1975). He was also memorable as Gene Hackman's bumbling henchman, Otis, in the first two "Superman" movies (1978 and 1980 respectively); as a corrupt yet likable cop in "The Big Easy" (1988); and as the hero's father in the inspirational sports pic "Rudy" (1993). Beatty was delightful in a rare starring role as true-life Irish tenor (and 1950s heartthrob) and tax evader Josef Locke in the schmaltzy Irish comedy, "Hear My Song" (1991). He later played the father of the title character in "Rudy" (1993) and the warden in Spike Lee's "He Got Game" (1998)."

Is this the person in question? Is he lost?

Yours truly

Isn't that the show where some damn yankees come down south and underestamate some good ole boys from back in the mountains?

Great banjo playing, I think dueling banjos went to number one. I would love to see the film but we ain't got no motion picture house here in town and my mule is to tired to make it into the city.

----Confused Gnus and Views----
"all the gnus that gives people fits"

We have come to the conclusion that the Bush Whitehouse only allows one smart guy to talk at a time. It's obvious that the Bush Whitehouse only has two smart guys to start with, Powell and Cheney. Agree with them or disagree with them, they are smart guys.
We might assume that if both smart guys were allowed to talk at the same time, that this might confuse the president even more than he is confused now, if that's possible.
But it seems clear that when Powell was doing a lot of talking, we didn't hear a peep outta Cheney, and now that Cheney is talking, we haven't heard a peep outta Powell.
It has not escaped our attention that John Ashcroft is allowed to talk as much as wants to, anytime, anywhere,... which apparently only confirms that the Bush Whitehouse knows what we have all known all along.Amazing.

I love Dueling Banjos. Great music. My sister did spend a year in Tennessee sometime in the 80's..Summertown, I think? She said Mule Day was a very big occasion there. Mules are kind of cool...
