"So it goes." I'm surprised this hasn't been posted here yet (unless I missed it), though I reckon that y'all know already. Kurt Vonnegut Jr passed away this past Wednesday from complications of a brain injury he sustained in a fall a few weeks ago. Rather than cut & paste his obituary, I'll let you all "Google" the innumerable ones that have been posted on the Internet. Not only was he one of our greatest writers (although he'd deny that accolade) but was a great satirist, humorist, anti-war activist and curmudgeonly as he was, a great human being. A life long smoker with emphysema, he often said he wanted to sue the tobacco companies for breech of promise. He said that warning on the packs pretty much guarantees that smoking will kill you! He'd probably find it humorous that it wasn't smoking that killed him. He also said that the only real reason that we were here was to "fart around"! Goodbye Billy Pilgrim. May your farting around continue somewhere, somehow.

Yes, lets pray Kurt Vonnegut ends up, in a place with no war, and lots of Pall Mall ciggaretts... I owe many a passing grade in high school, because of that man.... ( altho my Enlish Teacher may have been swayed by my choice of authors.). She was a cool old gal....

If I had to choose a 'favorite' author', it would be Kurt Vonnegut....

I had just read one of Kurts post on I think Jackson browne's website. It is worth finding.
The quote from Jackson's site I like the most was this though, "Every bullet is a mouthful of food taken away from the poor."

There was just a mention in "End of the Trail" the night he died. He's one of those people I irrationally felt would always be here while I am, and it's still hard to believe; I guess because his writing had such as large part in shaping the adult me (such as it is).
