I thought I would share a little chuckle with everyone. Recently a friend of mine has asked me to teach his 13 year old daughter how to play the guitar. So of course I started out with how to tune the guitar and she was having trouble remembering the notes of each string. She told me that she was having a hard time remembering by my method so I told her to make up her own if that works for her. And she did. I got a chuckle out of it. Here it is:

1 E Egotism
2 B Bush
3 G Government
4 D Discouraged
5 A Are
6 E Everyone

Now I was thinking that this is a little more complicated of a method but it made me laugh. Smart Kid!

I suppose some are more eager than others...I still think it's funny!

It's a bit chauvinistic I suppose but I got a chuckle out of it. I think she would remember it better with this one but I should clear the verbiage with her mother.
I worked with her again last night. This kid is amazing. She has asked me to teach her some Dylan and Pete Seeger Songs. I told her we will get to that but before we go there she should learn "This Land Is Your Land". She loved it and now she wants to learn more about Woody. She is like a sponge. Needless to say she went home with all of my Woody Guthrie CD's. Another folky in the making..

So now there's a little tuning robot in some Gibsons. Sure, it's only for electric guitars now, but hey, you plug in an acoustic these days, so how long will it be...?
