Howdy All...

With everything we have all had going on of late..so many lives moving on to different planes...us "left behinders" trying to move forward and wondering when life will feel normal again..

I found a start. For myself, anyway. Thought I might share it here for anyone interested.

I ran across a link to a live cam sitting in an Eagles nest. I had seen them before but for some reason..this pair gave me hope.

Blah blah blah......I started checking out other live cams and making the picture full screen and it was like having a zoo in a box!

I can't say for sure if all of you will be able to view them. I suppose it depends on your Pc and firewall settings...to each , his own! There are small ads at the bottom of the screen but they are closeable.

This eagle cam has sound. The pair take turns sitting on the two eggs that are expected to hatch around late April. It's live 24/7 but of course, you can only see it during daylight hours. It's up around Vancouver B.C. Hornby Island.

There is a link at the top of the page that says "Live Cameras!" that has links to other eagle cams.

This next one, today will likely be the last day for a while. It's on a hummingbird nest. One of the two babies fledged a day or so ago and the other may have done so over night. It's live, but it's dark right now.
I did register at the site, but you don't have to see the cams or to chat with other watching if you like.

Yesterday I put it on full screen and went about my day...it was so sweet to look over and see the baby pearched on the nest getting really to get out into the world.

Here is an Owl that has at least two babies under her. View this one with caution. Their dining habits are ummm not always appealing to us.....actually you can see it above and to the right of the hummingbird cam, but this link goes to the page.

This one has sound.

It's kind of rough when it's spring and you just don't feel like blooming! These cams just let me know that life is going on all around me and is ever changing.

Just an update....

Don't bother with the hummingbird cam.

The last one just flew the coup as it were.

I understand the Mother will lay eggs again but who knows when...lol

Stephanie, that's great--thank you so much. I saw the hummingbird mom on the nest for a minute or so, then she was gone. They're all dangerously addictive; got to get back to work, but what a great place to go for a little rejuvenation.

I giggled because each time I went back to peek, everyone was still chatting away staring at an empty nest. They all watched American Idol together.

There was something so special and serene and sad at watching the last baby lift off. The cam owner said the one that left the day before, had not moved from the perch she landed on, but yesterday's first flighter was sailing all over her back yard. Awesome to see critters in their natural habitats as apposed to behind screens and bars.

I'm a closet Big Band fan and I ran across a woman in there who's parents had worked for the Arthur Murray dance studios and her Mom had sang and danced with Tommy Dorsey.

Yeah yeah...don't shoot me for it. Glenn Miller is about as far around the corner from Alice's as you can get. Michael Jackson aside hehe!

No matter if your in mourning or just snowed under, it truly helps to know that life is still going on out there. Not something we always think nor care about when life throws a wrench in our works..

Music tastes around here are pretty eclectic; you might be surprised at how many Big Band fans lurk in these forums. I know of two others, at least.

Big Bands... Does anyone remember Three Little Fishies by Kay Kyser? I was raised on the big bands, my dad played clarinet and sax, piano and drums.

Count me in or off the beat. I played big band jazz in small acoustic groups (aka, dawg music). Not just fun and very challenging, it opens up all the gnarly changes and makes'em playable. Big fun!!

Big Bands were what woke me up to jazz!

i'm there... especially lately, though it's a sound I've always liked...Pink Martini reminded me a while back...
got a feeling for swing these days... choo choo cha boogie... steppin out with my baby... tuxedo junction... love that sound...

He does. Ukelele Lady. People forget the old early ones like Paul Whiteman's "Whispering" (a nice tune to explore whole tone scales somewhat like "Sunshine of My Life"). Arlo gets around some nice fast changes in songs like "Every Hand In The Land", Mapleview Rag, etc.

Rag, swing, western swing, and bluegrass are all of a piece in some respects. That is why the 'chord police' are whack. There is a whole lot of good bluegrass in a ninth chord and a whole lot of good swing in a banjo. It's up to the songwriter to decide... or arranger.

Of course as a guitar player, I'm no respecter of tradition if it gets between me and a crowd having a good time. It's their party.

That eagle looked me straight in the eye like "what are you doing in my bedroom"? From one camera it seems that the nest is very close to some houses.

This morning the phone rang and the eagle turned his head towards it ..totally coincidental, then looked straight at me and screamed like it bothered him. Really tickled me!

I LOVE Tuxedo Junction!!! You are right! A lot of it would be a real hoot to hear the A Man jam to!
