so, OK. I've had a epiphany, people. It's not politics or personality or pickles; it's just October!

YES! There is a pattern to Arlonet madness that has emerged over the years. Every year at exactly this time, Blunderites go nuts. Might be the shifting of the stars, or the impending time change, or the cool nights, or maybe its the frost on the pumpkin or Larry's early morning hockey practices, something... but inevitably, inexorably, indubitably, and inextinguishably, Blunderites stage internicine warfare.

Maybe we should just skip October altogether. I move that we eliminate it from Arlonet calendar. OR... or we can call it something else, like 'Bob' maybe, and see if that works.

That way, those of us who have birthdays or anniversaries in Oc...Bob(!) won't miss out on the prezzies!

Well, I don't know about eliminating October - because it's a pretty month, but I'm all for blaming Larry's hockey practice. Happy birthday, Bel.

well, bel has a point there... if we get rid of october, we get rid of the end of daylight savings time, right? that means it wouldn't get dark so early, right? I'm for that!
Of course, getting that extra hour of sleep is kinda cool... so maybe we'll just sleep in late all the month of Bob...

Ok, but what do we do with Halloween?

boboween? well, no..it's not octobeween now. we can still have halloween, can't we? we can bob for apples during bob on halloween. we can go bopping to the church gigs in bob. we can do this, i think..

Halloween is perfect for Bob-bing for apples! Well...there is one little improvement we could make. We could move it to the end of September, on the cusp of Bob, so nobody would have to wear longjohns under their costumes any more! It gets really lame if you have to wear a toque under your headgear.

Halos work OK, though! they slip right over top of the suckers!

Bob the 23rd is working out fine so far! I think we're on to something! Now I just have to work out what to do about Canadian Thanksgiving which normally falls on the second Monday in ... Bob... Hmmm...

I just need to know if this is going to require anything of people named Bob..cause you know..some of them just want to be doing absolutely and aren't going to want to be responsible for a whole month or anything.

Well, the Bobs would have some added responsibilities during Bob, I suppose, in the same way that department stores Santas have obligations to uphold the honour and pride of Santadumb. What those duties and obligations entail would have to be negotiated between the Bobs and a Blunderite representative. We'll need a volunteer to represent the Blunderite community in the negotiations! Can we see a show of hands?

On the flip side of the coin, Bobs would probably get some special perks and prezzies, in honour of their name month. They'd have to have special identity cards, with holographic images of a moose galloping, to ensure that they were actually truly Bobs, and not Bob-wanna-bees trying to horn in on the good stuff!

Pat suggests that we consider 'Larry' as the new name for October. But that would make it either Larryember, or Larryary...no, no, I think not!

We could go with one of the things October celebrates. October is . . . . Adopt-A-Dog Month, Computer Learning Month, National Apple Jack Month, National Car Care Month, National Clock Month, National Cosmetology Month, National Dessert Month, National Pickled Pepper Month, National Popcorn Poppin' Month, National Pretzel Month, National Sarcastics Month, National Seafood Month, National Kitchen and Bath Month, and Vegetarian Awareness Month

Hey, Hey...there's a lot of food involved. National Pickled Pepper Month! OK, or not! National Sarcastic Month tends to stand out there too, doesn't it? Shouldn't that be National Sarcastic Mouth instead? nah! Too controversial! Then there's National Dessert Month. Now that has possibilities!

How do we celebrate any momentous occasion? Dessert!
How do we cheer ourselves up? Dessert!
What do we need before any gathering is complete? Dessert!

Dessertary! Has a kind of ring to it! But we should check with the Bobs first. They might not want to give it up. The glory, I mean. Not the dessert! Never the dessert!

PS to Larry: Once you've tested out the recipe for us, we'll all know for sure if it's idiot-proof or not. Until then, we're just guessing.
