Many, many yrs. ago my brother Thomas gave me some great advise. I thought I'd pass it along to any blunderites that might be young enough, or in a situation, that this could be use-full!

*NEVER marry a woman if you don't like her mother!!! If you think you love your wife, and things will be peachy creamy for the next 30 or so yrs....Take a GOOD look at her mother...Because chances are, in 15 to 25 yrs. she will be a (somewhat) exact replica!!!

**I know there's an ol cliche that says a man is sapposed to Hate ( or at least mildly disslike his mother-in-law)!!! This couldn't be farther from the truth....My brother Thomas was right...My Mom-in-law being gravely ill for the past 3 months, has made me very aware, of that undying love, ONLY a mother can bring. I realize I'm not alone in this world of hurt...NO-ONE gets out alive...AKA life can suck sometimes....I do know, I remember the good times, much more than the bad.....Wish me (sue) luck in her recovery!!!

**And if your lucky enough to still have your mother-in-law, tell her you love her!!! After all, you married her daughter....

rb, what you said goes for men, too; they will become their fathers, usually. Sometimes it's the opposite-sex parent, but you can tell which parent that potential spouse "takes after"; that's who he or she will "become." I was lucky, too, and loved my in-laws very much.

rb and sue, I'm so sorry to hear your mother-in-law/mom has been ill. I've been the recipient of so many good vibes and wishes for strength lately; now I'm sending mine your way, amplified by those I've received.

Good luck to you all. I hope she improves and is well soon.

Ceashel

I'll be keeping your Mom-in-law in my prayers, Rb. Sorry to hear the news. Always glad to hear of someone who realizes what he's got before it's gone, though.

RB, we'll certainly join in sending good thoughts and prayers for her recovery. I hope she's with you for a long time. She's been lucky to have a son-in-law who appreciates her in her life. You can believe that's made things a lot better for her than if it was otherwise and feel good about that, at any rate.

RB, I'm sorry to hear about your mother-in-law's illness. I hope she recovers soon. Meanwhile, I'll keep her (and you and Sue) in my thoughts and prayers. As my mother told me before I got married--you don't marry a person, you marry a family.

RB, didn't have time to finish my post--but really just wanted to echo those who posted before me (Deb, Cea, Muffy, Pat). Sounds like you married into a really good family. They're lucky to have you, too.

Update on thank-you's!!! To Deb, Pamram, and Cheryl, your blunder vibes do not go unappreciated!!! I thank you all for the kind words sent Barb's way!...

*To all my cyber-friends that went unmentioned (you know who you are) the e-mails have meant so much. That's what friends are for, thanks again for being there! For myself, and Sue.

Hi Rob and Sue,
My thoughts are with you and your "Mom". Sounds like she is very lucky to have the both of you too!

I agree with you and luckily (although I never got the chance to meet him) the descriptions I hear of Johns Pop were identical to JohnC's goodness. To the point where sometimes I have to clarify which John (Sr. or Jr.) the elders of his family are referring to. He loved kids and he was very kind, (he had a "playful sense of humor" - I forgive him for that trait! LOL) he must have been a very nice man.

Best wishes for your mother-in-law. Forgive me for not sending the sentiment sooner...the original topic was seemingly not for me!
All the best...you deserve it...
