Tracey Craig here from Nonesuch: Music in the Folk Tradition on WVBR-FM
in Ithaca, New York.

ARLO GUTHRIE fans know they can get anything they want (at Alice's
Restaurant anyway!). And this Sunday, they can tune in for a special
hour-long feature about Arlo--son of Woody, child of Woodstock, father
to a new generation of young musicians--ARLO GUTHRIE's our guest on this week's Nonesuch.

Find out about Arlo’s latest recording project—he’s working with a full
symphony orchestra!….why one of his best songs was BANNED from radio
(not, it wasn't the drug references!)…the reason Arlo wrote a letter to
Dolly Parton, begging her to sing a duet with him. Arlo talks about the
weirdness of being a “no-hit wonder”—a musician who’s never had a major
hit, yet whose songs are translated into a dozen languages and played
'round the world. He also speaks candidly about what it's like to live
with the threat of the congenital Huntington's disease that conquered
his dad. (Gave me new insight into the whole arena of prenatal genetic
testing and its implications, I'll say that much.).

All along, he’s done his best to live up to his father Woody’s legacy.Arlo’s carved out a career as a singer and songwriter with a socialconscience—and a sense of humor. One of the funniest storytellers you’ll ever hear!

Catch our special interview with ARLO GUTHRIE, including excerpts from
our conversation stitched together with many short musical excerpts--his work alongside the music he talks about being influenced by, and some of his 24-year-old daughter Sarah Lee's new songs, too!

Arlo Guthrie, Sunday morning at 11 a.m.(Eastern Time) on Nonesuch, Music in the Folk Tradition on WVBR.
[We broadcast in central New York at 93.5 and 105.5 FM and on the
internet, ]http://www.wvbr.com]

Thanks for the info! Will the show be archived on the site where those who miss it can still hear it later? 11 Am on Sundays is church time & I can't miss... Arrgh... Why oh why does everything good have to be on whenever I can't see or hear it LOL... Good luck with the show!

I came up with a way to still hear the show. I can log onto the internet before I go to church. I will set up a boombox & hook it to an extension chord & then set it in front of the speaker of the puter & set it to tape. I'll have to disconnect from the net when I get back home as I'm going out to eat with my folks. A crude setup but better than nothing as we are a desperate blunderite...

Cheryl, I tried to reach you by IM this morning: there's a much easier way for you to hear the broadcast any time you want, right on your computer!

Once you set your computer to either "download -- save" or "stream -- open", it's being saved to wherever your files download on your computer!

Once you get home, run a search for a file called "listen" without the quotation marks. Double click the file and you might get a dialog box asking "open with?" and choose either WinAmp or RealPlayer.

Until you delete that file, it's there for you anytime!

Terrie

To all, note: if you try to get to wvbr from the link in Nonesuch's post, it won't work, because the ending bracket is part of the link. The address is valid, though--just type it, without the bracket, in your browser.

Thanks for the info on it being in my temp files. I already knew about stuff being saved to the temp files like that but when I got home from church I tried to find it in the temp files & couldn't so I wound up having to delete them as I have to delelte them quite often so my hard drive isn't so full. Sorry I didn't have my im's on. I was so busy Sun morning I had to set up the puter to play it & go after quickly checking the mail & a few other things.

The taped deck tape it okay except it ran out of tape during the show. Yikes! It ran out of tape right after Arlo said his daughter Cathy was singing with Willie Nelsons daughter. Arrgh! Does anyone know what happened after that? Thanks!

The puter had gotten disconnected from the net when I got home LOL! Which was okay by me cuz it didn't do it during the show. After church they had a free spaghetti dinner. Yum!

What I did hear was good. I learned some new stuff & had a blast...

If you often listen to different music from different sources, I know one software that is suitable for every occasion https://yumdownload.com/real-alternative. It will help you with reading all the known formats and thus make you happier. I've been using it for several years, it justified my hopes.
