Just check out Arlo's early album covers. He's always doing things that my mother told me never to do.

On Alice's Restaurant, he's sitting at the table with his hat on.

On Running Down the Road, he's riding a motorcyle without a helmet.

It gets worse. On the cover of Washington County, he's playing with a sharp object. On the back, he's shirtless in the sun, where he could get sunburn.

Then Hobo's Lullaby came out, where Arlo achieved a unique four-fecta (if that's a word) of sin. On the front, it looks like he's either getting ready to urinate in an open field, or that he just got done. On the back, he's smoking & reading a Mighty Thor comic book instead of, say, a Dickens novel. He also seems to be committing the highest offense one could commit in front of my mom---he has a "puss" on his face. Many times I walked about my house innocently, not believing I was doing anything wrong, only to have Mom tell me, "Hey, Mister, don't be thinking you're gonna be walking around this house with a puss on your face!"

On the cover of Arlo Guthrie, not only did he just get done playing with a sharp object (again!), but he's letting a small child help him carry it.

By the time Amigo came out, I was 18, a legal adult, but by now Arlo was behaving himself on his album covers.

Luckily, I turned out all right.

Joe, were you bored today? When are you gonna start playing the songs backwards?

I've heard that the next studio album will be called "Running With Scissors", and features a photo of Arlo on the cover doing just that.

LOL! I think I tried to play Alices backwards once to see if it had anything neat in it backwards messagewise but couldn't get it to do right..

I was at a party in the '70's where LP's were played backwards.....and believe me, that's all you wanna know about that party!

Yes, and the Thanksgiving Dinner that couldn't be beat winds up back in Alice's refrigerator!

Then again, it might be a way to clear Arlo's police record, and he would have gotten drafted.
