I was poking around the arlo.net site to discover that there is no more blunderboard. This, I'm guessing, is the blunderite messageboard. I was a regular visitor to arlo.net a number of years ago, and came back to see if there were any of the old members around. My name is (was) and still is Duncan. Is there anybody here from the old board? ~ Thanks!

I remember the name Cheryl, yep! Todd, however, I don't remember. Yeah, I posted some lyrics and maybe a link to a song or two a few years back. There was one gal here who called herself "Janice From The Sky", whose brother played guitar and, I think, performed now and again at the Church.

It's nice to see that there is still an active community here. It was one of the few places that wasn't run rampant with kids cursing at each other. Thanks for responding!

Duncan

yeah, I remember you too Duncan, welcome back. I seem to remember you as a folk performer, and you did some shows geared towards kids if I remember right?

Hey, Larry! Yeah, the children's band is still agoing concern but it's mostly in the summertime when we get any bookings. I spend most the rest of the year doing the folky thing and performing in a musical/comedy called 4 Men In A Tub. It's four old farts playing music and performing skits that have to do with marriage and mastrubation. All of the female roles are done in drag. It's all pretty ugly, believe me. Larry was there a Blunder Chat here at arlo.net at one time? Seems to me I remember one. There was also a husband and wife here. Her name was Laura, and his name slips my mind right now.

So, have you been here since all that time or have you wandered off and come back again too? The site DOES look great, but things seems to have changed an awful lot.

I'm hoping to hang out again if there are enough people here to keep me engaged, entertained, amused or whatever. I always did like this place. Anyhoo, thanks for responding. If you're interested, here are some pics from 4 Men In A Tub. ~ Duncan

It just hit me. I remember Janis. I wonder whatever happened to her? So many have come & gone & i wonder whatever happened to them. You may not remember Todd because sadly he passed on but is fondly remembered. I've been here since 1998 & never left. It's just too much fun on here... <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/smile.gif" width=15 height=15>

Hi Duncan. I remember now. Most of us have been here the whole time, although in my case and some others not as fulltime as a few years ago. Life got more complicated and I can't post from the job I have now.

Glad you stopped back.

Hey...HI Pat! Yes, I remember you soooo well. You were one of the anchors here. God bless you dear. How are you doing? Along with you and Janice From The Sky, Ray and Laura are two people I also remember fondly from this site. Are they around anymore? Or do you know?

Duncan

I remember the Smothers Borthers used to do a yo-yo act on tv yrs ago. You'd see them on some of the talk shows doing it. Pretty cool...

I've seen the Smothers Bros., & thus the Yo-Yo Man, twice in person.

I lose track of what stories I've told at what message boards, so if you've seen my Yo-Yo Man story before, just discontinue reading.

In May of '02, I was in the studio audience for 2 nights of taping PBS's This Land is Your Land all-star folk concert on the campus of Carnegie Mellon U. here in Pittsburgh. From 2 seats in the 4th row, we saw the Kingston Trio, Roger McGuinn, John Sebastian, Judy Collins, the Smothers, & many, many others.

I was always a huge Smothers fan, but have an even higher opinion of them after these 2 nights. They were the only act that stayed for both nights of taping. I was impressed with their love of not only folk music, but of their fans. They did some entertaining during breaks when the stage was being set up. They didn't hafta do that---there was a local radio DJ on hand for that---but they did.

On night #2, my wife had class so I brought my son Dom, then age 8, coz there wasn't much else to do with him if I wanted to see this concert that I spent a decent chunk of change on. During a break while they set up for the Highwaymen, Tommy Smothers came out & did his yo-yo tricks & Dom just loved it. When he was finished, he began tossing yo-yo's into the audience. I elbowed Dom & told him to stand, coz if Tommy saw a kid maybe he'd send a yo-yo that way. Sure nuff, Tommy tossed one to Dom, who caught it cleanly & was absolutely thrilled.

A few seconds later, the director had the 2 people in front of us vacate their seats so that the Smothers Brothers themselves could sit there & introduce the Highwaymen from the audience. Dom got to thank Tommy personally for the yo-yo. If you see the concert on TV or buy the video or DVD, when the Smothers introduce the Highwaymen, you can see Dom right behind them, winding & unwinding his yo-yo. You can see me, too, in my Arlo All Over the World T-shirt.

So we're part of folk music history, albeit a very minute part. But it's something I'll never forget.
