I thought it was three hours away. After failing to procure tickets for the show just around the corner in Tallahassee next week, we deided we must not miss the opportunity to see the Massacree and hear the four part harmony in person. So my friend and I loaded up the Camry and drove the three hundred miles to the University of Georgia. Along the way we realized that we were going to be late for the show. After being assured that there would be opening acts (by my friend, the same friend who told me Athens was only three hours away) I continued my ascent into Georgia. Well it took a long time to get to Athens and I consoled myself that at the very least we would get to walk in and sing a few bars of Alice's Restaurant Massacree and walk out. We did walk up the three hundred steps to Hodgson Hall on College Station, but the show was over and the nice people picking up the trash wouldn't unlock the doors. So we sang a few bars on our way down the steps back to the car and drove back to Tallahassee again. Our thanks to the kind person who left the program for us on the grass there outside of Hodgson Hall. A special thanks to the fine people at the Waffle House for pointing out that atleast we were drining "Alice's Iced Tea" in Athens, GA even if we hadn't attended her massacree.
EDIT: By the way, if anybody has a ticket for the show at the Ruby Diamond in Tallahassee next friday that they aren't using I will indenture myself to you. Email me or else just find me (I'll be the girl with the long brown hair, hanging around the auditorium on Friday night looking forlorn and slightly damp).

I feel bad for you that you weren't able to get to the Athens show, in spite of all your effort.... wish I had Tallahassee tickets to give you, but I don't. I hope something works out for you!

Meanwhile though, you've found us... hang around and talk to us when you have a chance... with your Athenean blunder, you sure sound like you fit right in here!

Yup, Wyld's right--I'd say that paying for the show and then missing it because you thought 300 miles would take 3 hours qualifies you for Blunderite (the crazy people who hang around here) material. It's really too bad that you missed it. Good luck on Tallahassee! You never know, maybe a miracle will happen; it wouldn't be the first.
