Deb I answered in a vague sort of way.

But thanks for putting some real terms to question at hand. Second guessing can be wrong. But in your case, I'll consider you a lot more informed......Image

sorry, rb...i guess i didn't catch that. i don't do vague all that well. the mind is going, you know.. Image

i wouldn't say i'm all that informed, that's kind of what i'm saying...none us should presume to know how any of the guthries would react...either negatively or positively...or anywhere in between.

bumper, we are right back where we started from. apparently the problem is your definition of 'group'.

2 individuals posting their ideas (that happen to be similar) in response to one person who later felt the need to implode does not, in my book, equal 'in group/out group' mentality.

if this is what you were referring to, there is nothing left to say.

Sherry, you're gonna get a big dent in your forehead if you don't watch out. We're a group. Anything that we do, we do as a group. Even if we never discuss a subject, it's mind control and you were right here driving poor ZoWie away in spirit if not in actuality. His use of sacrasm, name-calling, and his unusual tactic of implying that certain words - appeasement, Hitler, etc. are not "allowed" in discourse, was not a failing, but deb and I being in essential agreement is quite rude and to put the icing on the cake, Kim (with whom I have not discussed these events since the church shows in early october) had the nerve to have an opinion, too. Therefore, you, Sherry, by implication, are involved and guilty as charged. Just deal with it.

Deb, I knew anyway, but, i drew my knowledge of Arlo's views, on diversity, not from his recordings, but from his posting, immed. after sep 11th. I am not a pacifist, but, I respect the views of those who are..and believe ideological checks and balances, are important, now, as ever...
Pat, I apologized, to Deb, & now to you, for "misinterpreting" your posts, in reaction to zowie, as a group response, rather than individual opinions
Sherry said I took the easy route, by attacking the "head bitch" rather than seeing the truth. I claim nor seek membership in any group, beyond arlo.net here..
some good friends of mine have left, here, by there own choice. In the main, they have left, because aparently, a small number of people here, now decide what are "jokes" and "merry pranks", and what amount to spiteful tampering & re-editing of peoples posts here.
in public, and in private. That kind of "sliding scale" of what's tolerable, seems to vary, according to who initiates it..
I'd love to hear your thoughts, on that....

do you mean like joe bloggs tampering with kim's post before he left? quoting her, but changing what she said in the quote. or was it mongo/quinn and becky doing the same over and over in the controversial forums? are those the jokes and merry pranks to which you refer? just curious since the people that left didn't seem to have any arguements with any of those people.

if you truly value diversity of opinion, then even if dave really felt what was stated in the joke, wouldn't he have the right to that opinion...even if you didn't agree with it? if arlo values diversity, which, i think, we all pretty much agree that he does, then do you still think he would say that dave didn't have the right to his opinion, even if it was expressed as a serious thought?

if we're going by what arlo says, then i should tell you that arlo expressed some thoughts at the church gigs. i wish i could quote them exactly, but this paraphrase is quite close...

"i never thought i'd find myself with any president, let alone this one..but here i am. "

so, does that mean that anyone disagreeing with people against what the president is doing is more in line with arlo's "message", then someone who is against it? should we now not allow anyone that disagrees with the president's course of action from posting because it might disagree with arlo's message?

Bumper asked:

"I'd love to hear your thoughts, on that...."

I'd have to say I don't have a lot of thoughts on that, because I just can't keep track of the program or the players when it comes to a lot of what's gone on in other threads. I really don't read the Blunder threads thoroughly..just check in sometimes to see if there are any new Gnus and Views something else kind of readable like that. I was sorry about mongo and I hope that he'll come back at some point, and I did understand that the Quinn thing might look one way to him and a very different way to people who felt fooled. That's about it, though. A lot of the other stuff has been like football to me. Even though I try to comprehend and I might think I understand for a minute, it goes away and is replaced by a headache or a craving for chocolate.

I know you apologized to Deb. Sorry..that was the moment I needed to vent, so I did. It's possible that I'm pretty offended by everyone who has said what they did about this group thing vis a vis ZoWie. I'm not sure. Probably won't feel the need to vent again, but you never know.
