Ashcroft gave a speech to a group of law enforcement personnel in Columbia yesterday. Here is a quote: "America is freer today than any time in history. Our strategy is working." Is he out of touch or what?

... "our strategy is working"????

He probably is referring to the strategy of disinformation...

Too many people still believe what they are being fed by this administration. What do we have to do to get the rest of America to wake up to the reality that our "Resident" and his staff are out to take care of themselves and their rich cronies?

At least the Shrub is slipping in the polls. The economy is biting him in the rear as it did his father before him.

I think you're both right. When he says "our strategy is working" he must mean the administration's plan to turn this into an "authoritarian state" (Republispeak for dictatorship). He might be out of touch with the fact that the country is getting fed up with them. Hopefully no mechanisms are in place to make that fact irrelevant as yet. I'm getting a new tin foil hat just in case. Point I like to ponder: Just how many people have lost an election to a dead person? Is that an exclusive club Ashcroft belongs to?

What he really meant is "You're all free to agree with me."

I suppose that if one were to wear a blindfold and go into a dark room containing all the guilty and innocent people of the world and just start popping off rounds with your shotgun at random.......well the people that didn't get hit would be safer......I guess?
This is the Bush "strategy".
That and a G.I. Joe jumpsuit for photo ops.

JOHN ASHCROFT AND THE 'SPIRIT OF JUSTICE'
By Tom Paxton
(From an idea furnished by Anne Hills)

John Ashcroft went to meet the press
He faced the microphones.
His heart was full of righteousness
His voice like God's trombones.
But then he saw the statue
That was set behind him there.
She was 'The Spirit of Justice'
Yes, but one of her breasts was bare.

John Ashcroft looked with horror
At this gleaming marble globe.
It thrust itself upon him
From a loosely falling robe.
It was so hard to concentrate
On those he there accused
With that marble breast behind him,
Poor John Ashcroft got confused.

Each time he saw that marble breast
The poor man was appalled,
He quickly gave the order
And a curtain was installed.
Now when he makes a statement
You can see him on the tube
He has curtained off the statue
But you'll still see one big boob.
