Joe, now I'm very confused and more than a little upset about the estate tax. Maybe I should email you. I had to pay a WHOLE LOT of money on CDs from my MIL's retirement accounts. My husband was an beneficiary. And the bank totally screwed up every aspect of it. And we still don't have it all. I'll email you the specifics.

The federal estate tax repeal takes effect in 2010; until then, it is gradually reduced each year. There is also the PA Inheritance Tax, which generally banks are obligated to withhold unless you sign off & tell 'em that the estate will be filing an Inheritance Tax return.
