Hey, we have a documentary series starting this week, on one of our 2 thinking persons T.V. stations, called "The Corporation", "the power of corporations,which today have more influence than individual governments." Has anyone seen it?? I've seen previews.. can't wait.

I recieved the following from a good friend! What do you say when someone sends you an email like this?

We have enjoyed the redneck jokes for years. It's time to take a reflective look at the core beliefs of a culture that values home, family, country and God. If I had to stand before a dozen terrorists who threaten my life, I'd choose a half dozen or so rednecks to back me up.

PSB: Do what I do; read it and delete it. I NEVER forward messages on, nor do I spend much time worrying about the motives or true political leanings of my "good friends". After all, the internet is a heavily-traveled highway; there's gonna be a few bumps in the road, but you can't stop for every one of them. Many people mindlessly forward everything on, whether they should or not. My solution is better; it saves bandwidth too.

If we could shrink the earth's population to a village of precisely 100 people, with all the existing human ratios remaining the same, it would look something like the following:

There would be:
57 Asians
21 Europeans
14 from the
Western Hemisphere, north and south
8 Africans

52 would be female
48 would be male

70 would be nonwhite
30 would be white

70 would be non-Christian

6 people would possess 59% of the entire world's wealth and all 6 would be from the United States.

Ah but Geez Louise, Surely you know I would never forward an email like that on.

I know it is just email propaganda that we all get, but it is a phenomenon I thought I would discuss here!

I get both red and blue versions typically in a ratio of 10 red to every blue. I would categorize them as humorous, intellectual or emotional. This obviously falls in the emotional red category. Humorous accounts for roughly a third of the emails and I get them in both red and blue flavors (Beer as the progenitor of civilization has come to me in both forms and the stereotypes were equally humorous). Hillary is typically the butt of the humorous reds as GW is for the blues. Non-humorous reds are typically emotional and non-humorous blues are typically intellectual (usually with a link to even more intellectual discussion). This is a standard emotional red calling for religion in government (un-typically defining it as Christian in the holiday comment but it is usually assumed to be Christian) and suggesting any who disagree are naturally un-American, Vietnam Vet hating (new in my red propaganda but not unexpected as I have posted previously) disrespectful something or others (what word will replace commie or socialist, I am eagerly awaiting my new moniker).

How do I deal with this? Obviously I delete Reds, however, I have been known to forward some of the blue ones I get, I hope that doesn’t muck up the net waves too much Mikey! One blue I forwarded on during election season was the comparison of the leading red politico and red pundits military records versus the blue politico and blue pundits military records. It is amazing how disproportionate those statistics are in favoring the blues as far as military service to the country and I believe I swayed a few votes toward the blue side after all that Vets Against Kerry crap that was going on.

Are these effective on the general population? I believe yes, this propaganda has been effective in creating a bizarre solidarity in the reds I know. You know, the reds are generally good people who would loan you their last dollar etc etc. Often the most vocal or emotional ones are the ones most likely to suffer from the failure of society to deal with social agenda’s etc etc

The un-American thing makes me think of when I saw Merle Haggard recently at Willie's Picnic. Merle Travis’ son was in Haggard’s band and he played a solo reworked version of his Dad’s Sixteen Tons with a definite Blue Tinge to it! He told the story of his Dad appearing before the House Un-American Activities Committee for the song in the 50’s. He said his dad told them, He wasn’t trying to be Un-American, he was just writing a song about where he grew up! Both Mr. Travis and Kris Kristofferson (who played a blue tinged folk set later in the day) were booed pretty heavily by GW supporters that July 4 day down in Fort Worth. I gave them both standing ovations (to some stares but no violence) as they proudly walked off the stage. I guess they both felt inspired to confront the issues!
One more addition: the reds will send off color or pornographic emails on occasion, something I have yet to see from the blue sources (just another observation)

Yeah PS I'm glad you didn't delete that one but offered it here for us to see and discuss. This is probably the only place I would do that too. But would not send it to anyone else.I have noticed too that when I've been researching stuff and ended up at a forum site (Arlonet and Group W are the only forums I deliberatly go to and participate in) well I've seen some red voters (and some so called christians) saying some pretty offensive stuff? I mean some of us like to poke some fun like on the story board but I don't think we are offensive.I haven't noticed any blue voters being as offensive.And I sure don't think M.M. is anywhere near as offensive as some of his detractors. (though I sometimes wonder how he keeps so composed.)
It seems funny to me that the Repubs are Red and Dems are Blue as in these times we think of Red as commie. Here, we have the "Labour Party" like the Dems there,which is left of center, and used to be seen as socialists and even commies, and the "Liberal Party" here are like the repubs there which is said to have "Blue Ribbon" seats (voter areas). We have a Dem party but it is more left than Labour is and the Greens are those "radical BAD tree huggers".
Anyway I can't remember why the Dems are Blue and Repubs red, can someone save me looking it up? Hey I was just thinking about the Elephant and Donkey and it took me back to my childhood in Oregon during the Kennedy Nixon election. I was only a little kid but a Dem already, and because I hated this song so much it keeps popping into my brain now and then.
